Coffin being used as a bed can be awesome Idea.
There's paperback coffin stores in south africa. They're quite cheap, like 20 bucks or so, if my memory don't fails me.

if you are handy with tools, or know someone who is..try building your own.. my roomie built me mine out of wood, and we got the plans off the internet. It took us 2 days on and off to finish it, and I took another day to stain it, but it came out really good. It was perfect for a Halloween party we had here. If you want more info let me know...
were did you get the plans from im quite handy with power tools and i got my own little shop in my garageQuote:

here is one other, but it seems more difficult.. http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Nebula/6037/coffin.htm
If You are going to use it as a bed, and maybe as a coffin later, then I would suggest that you order a KISS coffin. Yes, KISS officially makes Coffins. Btw, They even had demos of how the KISS Cofins are so effective that they work as storage bins, refrigerators, coolers, and much, much, more! :thumb:
im using it as a cooler for parties and stuff
try making a smaller version, or one of the other styles, modified to fit your needs. let us see it, when you make it :)
KISS coffins fit that purpose perfectly.Quote:

Good lord..Amelia! help me! what''s the name of the photo studio right there next to the graveyard in LA? It's gonna drive me nuts! Anyhoo, the guy who runs the place hase a black one, a white one and a silver one for photo shoots picked 'em all up fer like $100 a pop. He knows where to get more, too... errrrgh! this is gonna make me crazy!

Then if there is a shirt factory near where you live go there and see if you can get some Fleece scraps....
If not just go to a cosighment or dig store..Somewhere you could buy some fleece shirts cheep, or go to wal-mart and buy some...
Tear the fleece and mix the fiberglass PUT ON LATEX GLOVES Dip the fleece in the fiber glass resin and apply it to the inside,....This will make the thing water proof....Once the whole inside is covered in fiberglass fleece...Take the rest of the Fiber resin and mix it up and go over the whole inside again with a heavy coat....Do that till its pretty thick or you run out...
Then all ya gotta do is put a drain in it...I would use an Outside water faucette you could get one at a hardware store....And poof Cofin Cooler...
If you want to do this and have some questions about fiber glass just ask me...I did a lot of fiber work on my car and Some car audio Subwoofer boxes I used to build...
Fiber Glass Itches and Stings like crazy! But it is relatively light though.
That's why the gloves dear.Quote:

Thats what all the deal with the fleece was about....
You use fleece material because 1. its cheaper....2. Not itchy...3.I have gotten better results using it ove the Glass Matting...
The gloves are simply for the fact that the resin is Stickier than syrup...And once you get it on your hands its a bitch to get off...And it usually gets on anything you are wearin...
another relitively cool use of the resin is to first make a mold of whatever you want...(I made pieces to accent car stereo installations with...)
Take your mold of whatever...Make a batch of resin ..And make it reletively HOT (Add more than the usual amount of Hardener) and pour it into your mold....Let it set over night or longer depending on how Thick the piece is...and pop it out...You can make all kinda things....I have made some pretty cool stuff this way...And the resin once it cures is some pretty tough stuff.....
Oh...When you make your mold...Cover the inside with Aluminum foil and then brandish (Rub It Smooth) with something to make it fit the form of the mold better...This will allow your Resin Form to pop out of the mold better...
thanks alot asmodeus i was just goin to try and find a tank or sometrhing to fit inside the coffin but now i see fiber glass is the way to go
Just go to a cememtary and dig one up...place is full of em.
to bad cadavers give me the creepsQuote:

oh, but the smell of a used one....nasty. I still say make your own, mine cost about 50 $ total, even with the deviations, and the staining/finishing.
All you need is Febreeze and let it air dry...it'll be smellin like country fresh flowers in....2 years, tops!
LMAOQuote:

Eurggggh! If you have to use a used one, rip out the lining and scour the inside with like lemon scented Lysol or somthing to kill the germs that are causing the smell and make a new lining. Not that I condone robbing the dead of their beds, or have ever tried it, but that's how I would do it, if I had to...
I'mma shut up now...
