Critique my latest project.
Here's the preliminary render for a concept-ad I'm making to add to my demo-reel.
It just happens to be for the greatest beer of all time, Arrogant Bastard Ale. The model is almost completely finished except for a bit of the left hand and the facial morph targets for the animation.
Any comments, critiques, etc. would be appreciated.

Re: Critique my latest project.
thats pretty good. only thing i see (and maybe its fixed already) is that the circle he is in is lopsided. other than that and some texture maps i think its great.
Re: Critique my latest project.
Thanks Volta. Unfortunately, the circle has to be a bit off or it shoots through the beer mug and the arm. That's one of the difficulties of going 2D to 3D.
I'm looking for a better skin texture but I haven't found anything suitably demonic. Any suggestions?
Re: Critique my latest project.
looks good..the horns blend in with the circle though
and the handle on the mug is incomplete
and now that I see it his thumbs a little skinny
Re: Critique my latest project.
i wonder...is that beer made by the same people who make FatBastard wine?
Looks good
Re: Critique my latest project.
I like it. I noticed the skin texture as well. Is there a way to make it seem a bit rougher? (Like maybe more texture and detail in the limbs?)
OEC
Re: Critique my latest project.
to me it seems like his face is mashed in, but that could jsut be the forced perspective. and yeah the beer myg handle is missing it's bottom half. other than that i like it alot.

The horns blend because they're both basic black. I haven't really played around with the textures yet because I'm still in the modeling stage. I hadn't noticfed the thumb before, but you're right, I'll have to beef it up a little bit. Thanks.

Nope, Fat Bastard is French while Arrogant Bastard comes from Stone Brewery in Oregon.

You think it shold be rougher? I actually toned it down. The bump-map I used is only at 10%. When it was rougher I thought it looked really fucked up.

I love it when hot chicks dig my work. I'm just pissed that so many people noticed the mug-handle thing. That's what I get for trying to take shortcuts. I thought nobody would notice and everyone's picking it up.
Weird thing is, I posted this on 3 forums and on the other two, nobody noticed it.

Re: Critique my latest project.
Maybe some sort of scales for the skin texture? Nothing too big, just big enough to give the impresion here and there of reptilian skin.
Re: Critique my latest project.
I was just looking at this again. I'm surprised nobody mentioned how flat the "ball" of the thumb on his right hand looks. I'm going to have to deal with that.

I dunno. Scales might be going too far against the original design.
Re: Critique my latest project.
and don't forget to fix the handle on the beer mug
that'sall I see everytime I look at it now
Re: Critique my latest project.
Grrrrrrrrrr
Yeah, I know about the goddamned handle because you people insist on reminding me...
Re: Critique my latest project.
well, the thumb on his left hand appears to be missing. if that's intentional, or been mentioned thrity times, oh well then...
nice work though.

I mentioned in my first post that his left hand wasn't finished yet. But thanks anyway.

Re: Critique my latest project.
Weird question, which software are you using? logo looks good thus far
Re: Critique my latest project.
Why's that a weird question?
I'm using 3DS Max version 8
