Bank issues credit card to cat

SYDNEY, Jan 4 (Reuters Life!) - An Australian bank has apologized for issuing a credit card to a cat after its owner decided to test the bank's identity security system.

The Bank of Queensland issued a credit card to Messiah the cat when his owner Katherine Campbell applied for a secondary card on her account under its name.

"I just couldn't believe it. People need to be aware of this and banks need to have better security," Campbell told local media on Thursday.

The bank said the cat's card had been canceled. "We apologize as this should not have happened," it said in a statement.

I should get one for my kitty. Then he can buy all the tuna he wants.

Well okay MY cat would prolly buy octopus and shrimp. HIS Cat would prolly buy a few hand- err paw maidens to lavish attention upon her day and night while keeping my cat at the very least in teh other room if not in a box addressed ot Abu Daubi. (very nermal/garfield vibe here)

hahaa oh i get it now... but yeah that was pretty funny thinking your cat had a cat... i would get pet fish or a hamster for my pet cat :D

I've woken up to my cat watching the home shopping network. The tv was off when I passed out and it most deffinately wasn't on that channel. I'm afraid of what kind of dept my demon spawn cat would go into if she had a credit card. Roxanne seems to have a thing for shiny stuff.

The cat wasn't actually issued with a new card and account, the owner had it listed as an additional cardholder on her account. But the cat ended up with a card that had something like a $4000 limit on it.

The bank also cancelled the owners card, for a fraudulent application.

Me too. I got her a rhinestone collar as a joke, and she proceeded to chew my hand off putting said collar on and taking it off. I have scars. Yet she doesn't object to the harnes I usually keep her in. She like going outside, but is terrified to go by herself. So, I end up walking my fifteen pound cat as if she was a dog. Yes, I know. It is official. I am the crazy cat lady.
