good morning all, laddies and gentelewomen.

as required this is my introductory thread, as interesting as it may be. so, maybe i should tell you a little about myself. im a dude, so please sir stop touching me there. you are not a priest. im 19 and into metal, love the punk scene (gee, who predicted that on this board? :eeek: ). im starting to learn the drums and violin, LOVE music, both making and listening. pretty eclectic tastes - mudvayne, pantera, linkin park, eminem, korn, slipknot, vanessa mae, send more paramedics, beethoven... just dont give me that whiny emo shit or pop.

im pretty easy going - dont worry about offending me, i dont care about anything. if i happen to offend you, just tell me to fuck off. and dont take anything i say seriously, im a sarcastic bastard and i just plain refuse to take things seriously.

fast fact: the mating cry of the male haggis was the original inspiration for the bagpipes. in retribution they were hunted almost to extinction. true fact - you can feel your understanding of the world expanding in front of your eyes. keep me around, and soon we shall rule the world with our power.

nice to meet someone that doesn't give a shit about anything, lately I've been hanging out with a lot of people that are going to be dead by age 30.

I think your taste in music is horrible lol. It's okay though because most of those bands you listed are what I consider "gateway" bands. Wich means they'll open alot of new directions for your path of musical growth to take.

That's great you're learning drums. If it's one thing this world needs more of it's drummers :)

heh that was by no means a complete list. ironically the most important bands to me completely slipped my mind on that list. System Of A Down, Opeth, Tool and Apocalyptica would be the ones that get me best. i also have a 16 volt demo cd that came with a game i got a while ago that makes me think they would make my top 5 if i could find more of thier shit, but i cant find any of it in australia. suck. unfortunately for me the various bands i can experience is pretty limited so i mainly hear what other people are listening to and most of my friends are into particular genres (whereas my tastes run everywhere). could any of yas reccomend some good bands for me to look up?

hello and welcome! You should try I Am Ghost, they incorporate violins into their rock! Or Project 86, they're good too. Mind you, these are both things I was listening to at work last night so that's prolly why they came to mind. But yeah, welcome!

oh, my sister got some metal mag the other day and i was reading through it and noting down bands to check out, I Am Ghost was one of them. havent heard of 86, will check them out as also.

I would suggest you some stuff but please keep in mind what I consider good is a completely different perspective than what you'll consider good. It appears to me that you're borderline into stuff that screams alot, where as I love shit that screams, growls, pig squels, gurgles and causes your ears to bleed.
