Gimme some suggestions on movies to watch PLEEEEASE!!!!
I just got around to watching 'Stranger than Fiction' last night. Have any of u seen it? It has the same actress, Maggy Gillenhall (sp??) who was in 'The Secretary', which is my favorite movie of all times. I just love her :-) And in 'Stranger than Fiction' she has a half sleeve tattoo which makes her even hotter :-)
Anyhow, I really enjoyed the movie.
I hate films with violence, although I like horror flicks. I also don't like action movies, or shoot em up cop movies. I like art house films or main stream films that mimic art house films. I like love stories but only quirky ones. I liked 'Pans Labrynth'.
So help me along, what should I put on the NetFlix que???

Re: Gimme some suggestions on movies to watch PLEEEEASE!!!!
The Secretary is also one of my all time favorites...securing Maggie Gyllenhaal a permanent place in my heart and my panties. James Spader too. And yes,Stranger Then Fiction was brilliant,I absolutely loved it.
Let's see though, good films...Have you seen Me,You and Everyone We Know? Very quirky love story, but I can watch it over and over,it's very funny and endearing. Also if you like foreign films Audrey Tatou has been in a couple of great off-beat french romances..Amelie is a masterpiece, and A Very Long Engagement is also a good one.
If you haven't seen Garden State put that one on your que,it's a great movie for so many reasons. Or hey,how about David Lynch's Wild at Heart? Or Natural Born Killers? Or even True Romance? Those are all a little more violent than the rest I've mentioned but I'd still rate them pretty high up in my favorite romances.
Hope that helps a little. =) Wish we lived closer,I'd love to have a chic flick night w/ you Scar,we could eat popcorn and drool over Maggie Gyllenhaal together.

There's violence in it, but "Chopper" was quite good.

Re: Gimme some suggestions on movies to watch PLEEEEASE!!!!
Knowing my love for bad (and good) horror movies a friend of mine got me a Korean flick called The Host. More a monster movie than a scary movie but it was a lot of fun.
Things to do in Denver when your Dead is laying on my floor, so I must have liked that one.
Way of the Gun really makes me want to see Benicio as an old west gunfighter. So I think that is worth seeing if you haven't, or if you have.
I can't think of any movies right now where no one gets shot... maybe I need a little more sun. :p:

Re: Gimme some suggestions on movies to watch PLEEEEASE!!!!
The most fucked movie of all time is Naked Lunch. Voted #1 by Bizarre Magazine, and that's saying a lot. Number two is Gummo. Number three is Eraserhead. All hard to find. I have them all. Then watch the movies Le Petit Mort (above) mentions.

Does it still say alot when Bizarre (even though I am victim to buying some issues in the past) yanks Blue Blood images for advertisements without permission?

I'd submit my list of the most fucked up movies of all time, not neccesarily in this order.
1. Salo aka 120 days of sodom
(probably the best one. it's intent is to be the most fucked up movie is for the purpose of showing how fucked up it is that people make violent movies as entertainment and to show how horrible it is in reality.)
2. The men behind the sun
(pretty much the same historical imperitive as salo, but I got the impression that it was moreso doing it to be shocking and exploitation cinema. overall it's a pretty cheesy movie, but once again it's the reflection of reality that gives it the impact.)
3. Irreversible
(I haven't seen this one and I'm not really sure what it's about, just that the story is shown backwards and that it's supposed to be a really good, but brutal movie. I guess the key scene is a pretty graphic **** sequence that I believe was banned in europe and brought a lot of publicity to the film because of it.

I own the Criterion Collection version of
Salň o le 120 giornate di Sodoma ,
the only way to see it, if indeed you want to.
Criterion recently acquired the rights and
are planning on re-releasing it sometime this
year, hopefully restoring all previous versions
cut scenes and better than the Gaumont and BFI
versions as well. Pasolini was very prolific and a
tortured genius, not to mention his life ultimately
imitating his art and first novel, Ragazzi di vita,
when he was murdered by a male prostitute. 30 years
since his death, new evidence has been found, his
accused killer has recanted and the investigation
was re-opened in 2005.
Have not seen Men Behind the Sun, but own both
fucked up French films, Irréversible and Baise-moi,
both very graphic and violent, both are must-see
as very poignant point of views... especially if
the viewer has never been brutalized, neither are
for the weak-stomached or sexually victimized. Also
own a copy of yet another French film, although not
as fucked up as the others, Romance is an explicit
mainstream movie that has Rocco Siffredi in a non
porn but penetrative role (no money shot).
Bruce La Bruce's Skinflick and The Raspberry Reich
are also in my stack of 2700+ DVDs too.. both
interesting but neither are NetFlix appropriate...
as are none of the others either:1orglaugh
