Calling all of those with Twisted minds!
O.k. people, time to show your skills as authors:
One of the projects that contributes to the final grade for my English Language class just happens to be... A Romance novel!
Now I know NOTHING about romance novels, never having read one myself; all I know is that this COULD be a whole bag 'o fun if its done... in a questionable manner.
So that’s were you guys enter, Please contribute to my romance novel- any ideas are welcome (Just so long as they are *relatively* clean, that is why I posted this here, not in the adult section).
Just remember a romance needs:
A heroin
A hero (Homosexual is fine by me)
A meeting, a period of turmoil and an eventual happy ending (like in a Disney film)
What do you get out of this? My love, and a chance to laugh at the (hopefully) funny submissions that others have thrown my way! Oh, and I will post the finished story here, just before its sent off to the examiners of Cambridge exams, Yeah- you will actually be affecting my grade!
Re: Calling all of those with Twisted minds!
You wanna do it right, write to Harlequin and ask for their story guidelines.
Or you can probably get it from their website.
Believe me, they're VERY specific about what they want. Write to spec.
Re: Calling all of those with Twisted minds!
You want a story idea, or us to write a story? I can do both.. but one os a little less ethical... Remember I have no morals.. just ethics
Re: Calling all of those with Twisted minds!
BC, story ideas please!
EasyRider, not a hassle- any ideas that people offer can be moulded into a Cambridge frame, I know what they want, and there is allot of leniency to the language curriculum- they want people to be creative.
Re: Calling all of those with Twisted minds!
What I'm telling you is the Mills and Boon (in America, harlequin) romance novel is written to an EXACT formula......
what will be awesomely creative is trying to write an actual story with that framework.
Re: Calling all of those with Twisted minds!
A manor lady in England falls in love with a peasent farmer. She teaches him to write and is delighted when she begins to receive beautiful poetry from said farmer.
Due to class she is unable to marry the man and is married off to a rich nobleman with many mistresses.
/queue adventure of secret meetings in the countryside and inns, and the eventual escape of the noble woman to the country where she becomes the farmers wife and the two live happily ever after.
Of course challenges appear from the nobleman and you can put some fighting etc in.

I would guess he was referring to the gigantic romance novel publishers.
Re: Calling all of those with Twisted minds!
Honestly? You have to write what you know. I tend to write in the abstract so I'd be of no service. Write what you know. It'll come easier than having folks here storyboard something.
