My Sopranos DVDs are supposed to have arrived, but they haven't. I just had the thought that my favorite mobster flick is not Scarface like it maybe ought to be or anything with Christopher Walken in it. I think it is probably Bound

Scarface
Does Pulp Fiction count?
hands down...The Godfather
Bound isn't a Mob movie though...it has mobsters in it but it's pretty much your typical Heist flick...a good one at that. Now that those brothers have the Matrix out of their system then can hopefully go on to make more films like Bound.Quote:

As for movies, I think The Goodfellas. Something about that movie draws me in, I think its the sense of reality that does it.
DICK TRACY!
That is the best mobster movie that comes to mind right away, lol
I really like "Once Upon A Time In America" for some reason, even though it's ridiculously long (like there's a such thing as a 90 minute mob movie...). Scarface is bitchin', too, as is the already-mentioned Goodfellas, and you have to love the first 2 Godfather movies (as for 3, well, skip ahead to the opera scene and try to forgive Sofia Coppola based on the fact that she was young and she's not so bad BEHIND a camera these days, heh...). Another great one, even though it's nowhere near as serious as the others I mention, is The Freshman with Matthew Broderick.
Of the stuff I've seen recently, I dug Donnie Brasco (though it's not a terribly deep movie, it's still pretty fun), and, while it's hardly your traditional "mobster" movie, Gangs Of New York wasn't so bad.
You would think it does, and if so, that's one of mine. And Godfather. You can't touch that movie.Quote:

would it have to be an american mobster movie? would yakuza films count? cause while i love goodfellas, i love ichi the killer more. kakihara - rauf rauf :)
Hmm, i wouldn't say that Koroshiya Ichi is a mobster-film. It's more of a dark comedy. But as we're talking Yakuza: "Brother" by Takeshi Kitano !!
i like some of the others have to say
scarface
tommygunn666
scarface has to be the worst "mobster" movie of all time....could Pacinos accent be any worse? nothign against Pacino, Serpico is one of my all time fav movies....asfor "mobster" movies i vote for "Once Upon a Time In America".....its now out on DVD
Goodfellas hands down, also Scarface "Look at chew now you cacaroach"
Hmm, I wonder if we can count stuff like Boyz in the Hood and Juice in the genre.
I said a cheeseburger, motherfucker!
I want to shoot you so bad, my dick's hard.
I watched Steve McQueen in Bullitt yesterday. It wasn't exactly a mobster movie, more like a tough cop tries to protect a star witness from 'the organization.' It was pretty good. Classic car chase. But all the guys in the film looked oddly like aging emo kids, with their bad haircuts and black plastic glasses, haha. I kinda didn't remember it ending quite so abruptly though. Not as much plot resolution as folks like these days. Entertaining though.
A Bronx Tale and GoodFellas .
Road to Perdition (I'm Irish and read comics, it's a comic based on an Irish mob)
Godfather and Godfather 2
Casino
Gangs of New York
I'd have to rate Ichi as the best Yakuza film myself. Do you remeber the blond's name? the gentleman with the fasion sense?Quote:
