PSA: Time Warner digital cable still does not work for me & TiVo is the one true DVR

I see we have a Time Warner Digital Cable advert running on the site right now. Our ad reps work hard, so we can keep this site free for the community. I only refuse adverts from really awful folks or specific adverts where the banner art is grotesquely inappropriate.

I feel a moral responsibility, however, to tell you all that I have Time Warner Digital Cable and they have been unable to get my VOD service working, after two service calls, and one entire box change. Also TiVo is the one true DVR and no other service for auto-recording shows comes close.

I know you run the site and all, but can you mention TiVo without breaking the rule about religious propaganda? All TiVo owners know it's not "a box". It's God in a little plastic house, and is To Be Worshipped At All Times. Pish and flabble on the infidel pretenders!

(oh yeah, and if it ever breaks there are TiWidow group therapy sessions in your local area to assist you through the difficult first weeks of reality without your favorites set)

My brother got a cable company DVR (Comcast before the TW buyout I think.) Usually, he would research a product, but he chose the cable co DVR because he couldn't stand TiVo zealotry. He loathes his choice, but has not yet fully repented.

At least in the rest of the country, with
Crapcast DVRs, you have the choice
of the 120 gig Motorola or the Scientific
Atlanta models... here, being the backyard
of Billie "My Balls are Bigger than Yours"
Gates... you only get the choice of the
MicroShaft DVR.. because GATES SAYS

And so funny that this topic actually comes
up.. as I was just discussing the pros and
cons of PVR vs. DVR, as I have convinced
yet one more person to let me built one of my
custom PC FTA/Satellite/DVB-S PVR systems.

It will have to wait for a bit, as I just got out of
the hospital and have yet again survived another
surgery.... just too fucking stubborn to die.
