Perfect 10 Sues Microsoft
Just read this article from the Network World site, about how the publishers of Perfect 10 magazine are suing Microsoft, because, as Perfect 10 alleges, Microsoft's search engine is providing links to third-party sites that have used copyright-infringed images from the magazine.
Perfect 10 also tried suing Google over this same issue, but its case was thrown out by a Federal court a few months back.

Hope this is of some interest.
Re: Perfect 10 Sues Microsoft
I know it is trendy to think Perfect 10 overreacts, and maybe they do, but it does occur to me that search engines sure do use a lot of other people's info to get themselves paid. Then again, if the search engines, Google in particular, had not been being so darn peculiar with search results of late, I'd probably be less bothered.

It would be nice if the world didn't need lawyers, but it clearly does.

All due respect to the freedom fighters and anarchists amongst us, but until you make a living from products that can be copied and resold at will by your competitors, criminals and a kid in a bedroom then you won't ever see how important lawyers are to us. Intellectual property is called 'property' for a reason and if the laws weren't used to enforce that point nobody would go to the expense of putting their material online - we'd be back in the era when photographs stayed on paper and you got your fix from the shelves of a news stand. 99% of the web, including sites like this, would close faster than you can say "receivership".
