Halp!
Okay so this has been bugging me for about 10 years or so now, and I need help. I know the traditional Lyrics to the Skye Boat Song, but i also know a verse that doesn't appear on any of the "official" lyrics sites.
The traditional chorus:
Speed bonnie boat like a bird on the wing!
Onward! the sailors cry!
Carry the lad who's born to be king
O'er the sea to Skye!
The alternate Chorus:
Sing me a song of a lad that is gone
Say! could that lad be I?
Many a tale's been told of the day
Prince Charlie escaped to Skye!
Its driving me mad, so I make the call to other ppl with nothing to do and resources I might not have access to. HALP!

Re: Halp!
The latter is part of a Robert Louis Stevenson poem;, I have a collection of his I just looked at the other day (you have good timing otherwise I wouldn't have remembered)
Sing me a song of a lad that is gone,
Say, could that lad be I?
Merry of soul he sailed on a day
Over the sea to Skye.
Mull was astern, Rum on the port,
Eigg on the starboard bow;
Glory of youth glowed in his soul;
Where is that glory now?
Sing me a song of a lad that is gone,
Say, could that lad be I?
Merry of soul he sailed on a day
Over the sea to Skye.
Give me again all that was there
Give me the sun that shone!
Give me the eyes, give me the soul,
Give me the lad that's gone!
Sing me a song of a lad that is gone,
Say, could that lad be I?
Merry of soul he sailed on a day
Over the sea to Skye.
Billow and breeze, islands and seas,
Mountains of rain and sun,
All that was good, all that was fair,
All that was me is gone.
