I think it's already happening to an extent. I went to a Damned gig a while back and it was like 'punk's not dead - but it's certainly started collecting its pension'.
lol, I like your topic! I saw a couple old ladies in tight pink and black revenge of the 80's clothes just today, with teased hair and all. I wonder if we'll end up seeing a bunch of old ladies with bleached blond hair, khaki capris, and flip flops in the future? This would be much scarier than old goth ladies in my opinion!

As long as we don't end up wearing pastels I think we'll be ok.
i just think being old and listening to slayer would be cool and my grand kids would think its lame classic rock or something

I listen to NPR a lot and I listen to the Diane Ream show when I can (yeah, yeah, no Ream jokes please). I missed this really cool talk on 30s gangsters and went to the website to listen. I went to her page and was in shock. With her voice you'd assume at youngest she is in her seventies, and she was a reporter back in the 70s, but my good God above, she was the hottest lady over 40 I have ever seen in my life.
