Cosmetic Contact Lenses: any experience?
Every so often i get the idea it'd be cool to get a set of contacts that make my eyes look like a cat's, if for no better reason than to facilitate communication with my cat. has anyone here ever tried them, and how itchy or irritating were they?

Re: Cosmetic Contact Lenses: any experience?
I wear normal lenses every day and unless you're used to them, they can be itchy. If you're going for the cosmetic ones, be prepared to have limited vision, since there is only a small area where you can see through. I used to wear coloured lenses (one turquoise, one purple) and they were the same. They weren't as restrictive, since they weren't solid colour, but the cosmetic is solid colour and not translucent. I know the industry has improved quite a bit in recent years so they shouldn't irritate too much. Make sure they're either Gas-Permeable or Soft Lenses.

i have fond memories of that time i went to Abyss in Melbourne, wearing that wire-frame Pinhead Cenobite mask i'd made. standing over the dance floor, drunk out of my tiny mind, wondering what they'd all look like dangling from hooks.

Re: Cosmetic Contact Lenses: any experience?
any kind of contact will make your eyes feel like they have scabbed over for about a week, after that they itch occasionally when they get dry, but you can get special eye drops for that, and if you use the cosmetic ones like you wan't be prepared to have absolutely zero night vision.
Re: Cosmetic Contact Lenses: any experience?
If you want cat eyes, make sure they are the little more expensive weighted ones. The non-weighted ones will go all sideways and upside down and crooked, whereas weighted ones are meant to sit in a specific direction at all times.
Re: Cosmetic Contact Lenses: any experience?
Most of the modern ones are weighted, that I've seen, but since I go to my opticians on a regular basis, I normally see them there. They make the cosmetic ones for people that need a prescription as well.
The girl in there saw a guy once that ordered a pair of "Interview with the Vampire" ones, and when he put them in, she knew there was something wrong with the way he looked, but couldn't put her finger on it. They completely changed his look without being obvious. She was disturbed by it.
I've always wanted pure Black ones.

perhaps he had the left one in the right eye, and vice-versa. :)

As long as you're not astigmatic you can get them here:-

I've used those on stage and they're comfy little things - though my normal lenses are toric so for anything where I need to read I get sets made up. Crazies are so cheap it doesn't matter they absorbed smoke and were trashed after a few nights.
Re: Cosmetic Contact Lenses: any experience?
i have colored contacts the same thing as cosmetic contacts
you just got to take care of them
otherwise it can affect your vision
they are uncomfortable at first
but you should go to your eye de and see if you can get some thru him/her to custom fit your eyes needs
Re: Cosmetic Contact Lenses: any experience?
it takes a couple tries at first to get them in
Re: Cosmetic Contact Lenses: any experience?
i like pictures of people with colored contacts but i hate touching my eyes

It's an innate response - even babies won't do it - as of course it's a stupid idea from the point of view of evolution (which thinks we're still crawling about in shit and haven't grasped the concept of soap), but with clean fingers and care there's nothing dangerous about it, and the sclera are no more sensitive to touch than any other part of the skin - if you get something in your eye that hurts it's actually the skin on the inside of the eyelid that's complaining, and that isn't somewhere you mess with when putting in contacts. It does mean that you have to 'unlearn' the response before you can bring yourself to do it, and that takes some people a lot more effort than others. If it was easy to overcome your innate reluctance think of all the babies that'd be blinding themselves with pencils!

You've hit the head right on the nail. I am astigmatic, and I had a check-up yesterday. Turns out my astigmatism is rotating, causing more problems.
Add to that the fact that I have to use daily ones since my eyes throw out so much gunk that a monthly set get fuckd up in the first fortnight.
Re: Cosmetic Contact Lenses: any experience?
I do like the Wolf ones. Another one for my shopping list if I every get laser eye surgery.
Re: Cosmetic Contact Lenses: any experience?
I really want to get those, the very light blue ones, the cat eyes, and hot pink ones if I can find them. I'm a sucker for hot pink <3
