Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
I sure do love my pets, so I am gonna be super cheesy and get them tattooed on me. My lover man is designing the tattoo for me :-) He is quite talented in that department. Here's an idea of what they'll look like, with one of each of my doggies face's in the middle, slightly staring towards each other. I want to get them in the middle of each calf, with the spider web part going down my leg and the little spider just above where a high heal would buckle :-)
Do you think that it will be delightful of hideous????

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
eh, i'm not so fond of that one... but you might want to ask someone who likes tattoos more than i do...
-
Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
are you going to get them like that? or in some other style? if you are getting the faces done photo-realistically, then I think the styles might not go well together.
I don't think that it's a bad idea at all, but the bat wings feel a little out of place to me.
the overall idea of getting a tatoo of a pet, I think is pretty cool.

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
Sorry to be harsh, but that drawing totally sucks. I'd get a better artist to draw it for you. Seriously. I'm not trying to be a total fucker but your going to wear that for the rest of you life. It looks like a prison tat.

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
Well, I personally like the design. Obviously, I'm assuming the image you posted is just a rough sketch and the lines will be clearer/straighter/smoother. As far as the entire concept, I find it fabulous. However, I think MG brought up a valid point. You may want to charicturize the image of your pets to match the general theme of the tat, since photo-like and the frame it's in may not work. I have to say again though, I really like the idea.

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
the only person that has to like it is you. It shouldn't matter what other people think. they don't have to wear it forever, you do. If i'm on the fence about a tattoo I get the drawing done and put it somewhere that I'll see it every day, and if I still like it in a year, I get it.

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
Bwahahahhahahahahh!
That is DEFINITELY a rough outline.. basically the bare minimum needed for an actual talented person to draw it up for me :-) Sorry, I thought I made that clear! Oops! I will post the final design when it's all ready......

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
Very cool concept. I'm not sure if I got that you wanted to go with a very realistic style for it or not though?
I think that a good artist it good it all together so that the design looks like a very antique picture frame with you doggies as the picture that is framed and it would be very cool.
Did that make any sense to you Scar?

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
what youve already got looks ok if its cleaned up but....
pictures of any sort of faces on tattoos look shit (animals or humans), especially as they age, get their names instead, it takes up less space

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
All I have to say is PLEASE make sure you go to an artist whos specialty is animal portraits! I went to a guy who did portraits and he completely screwed up my horse, now I have to get it covered up because its THAT bad.

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
i guess it would look neat around a belly button but it's kind of plain

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
Well it's hard to judge a rough sketch that is as rough as that. As pointed out if the portrait is going to be done photo realistically the styles will clash. So the wings are way off in terms of what a real bats wing form is like.
Oddly enough I have a bat wing tutorial saved >_> yeah I'm weird.

If you are getting a photorealistic portrait I would suggest having the designer use a tutorial like this so they don't clash with the design that will be going inside. Of course this is only my opinion as I'm a picky picky evil woman.

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
the most important thing is-do you like it?
cus it shouldnt matter what other people tink of it if you like it.

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
hey scar i think the drawing looks absolutely amazing. Malcolm's right. it desn't matter what other people think. the only one who should care is you and only you. if u like the design then have fun and enjoy it. if u don't like the design then try to create it the way u want it to look.
whatever u decide i hope u'll enjoy. good luck and best wishes.

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
Here's a rough draft of the tattoo. Clearly it is WAY too detailed to put on skin, as I plan on being alive for many many years and once that ink bleed it would look like shit. Plus I want the face of Mister Dink to be larger, less of his chest... so second opinions anyone? NOW do you love the tattoo???

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
oh! that is gorgeous! you should put that on a shirt and sell me one!

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
ok, to be honest the 1st pic you showed was kind of ass. This one kicks ass. Agreed that the detail may need to be toned down a little, but that is a much better starting point then the first one.
Mr. Dink...1.5lbs of ankle ripping furry! Cool name btw.

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
tbh - i'm not fond of either. but like Voltaire says the only person who has to like it is you. I say think about it for a few more weeks. maybe get a semi permanent henna thing of it done where you want the tatt to go and wear that for a week and see how you feel about it then.

That final draft is really pretty!

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
You probably will want the wings to curve up more, because it's going to bend around your leg. Take a piece of paper, and bend it around your calf, and trace the basic shape you want it to be. I am guessing you will want the wings more upward facing, and spread out more, so they wrap up the sides of your leg nicely...
And don't worry about the detail. Just have them do it with lighter inks, and a light touch. Keep the main lines dark, but you can fill in the detail with little lines and mild shading, and still have it look pretty nice...

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
yeah Mr. Dink's face is going to have to be tiny unless you want the bat wings to wrap all the way around your leg... but honestly you could just lose the wings entirely and your design won't suffer any from the loss.
-
Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
I like the rough alignment of Mr. Dink's ears at that angle and the wings.
Pretty solid, but I think it would be a better t-shirt than a tat. As you said, the bleed over time would ruin it.
It would also make a good album cover...

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
I think this is the best and worst idea I've ever heard Scar. I just can't stop imagining your legs in the air and Mr Dink, upside down, staring at me from your calf.
I would however wear that as a T-Shirt.

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
Great design. I've been wanting to get a tattoo of my old dog, but haven't got the cash at the moment. The problem is she was all white, that might cause problems to most tattooist over here.

Re: Is this tattoo gross or fabulous?
Nice tattoo, I thought about having a tattoo of my old tarantula.
