Do you let yourself get better from a cold?
So . . .
Went to conference. Ate food chosen by others. Drank beer.
Went to doctor. Got minor surgery. Very very small site but hard to keep dry in bath.
My body decided, quite reasonably, it would like to punch me.
Spent past week sick. Feel well enough now to be annoyed I don't feel better. So much work to catch up on.
Blargh.
So I kind of feel the impulse to attempt a hot bath and get jacked up on espresso and try to dive into the work which has been piling up while I've been practically in hibernation. I worry that if I push myself too much, I'll end up spending another week sick, but I'm getting very anxious about work which has not been done.
Do you often relapse when you catch a cold or do you let yourself get better? In general, do you give yourself breaks when stressful things come up or just dive in until you can't?

I don't even take time off work. I just get on with it.
Re: Do you let yourself get better from a cold?
i rest if its serious. may even resort to medication.
tbh i am so rarely ill that if something does infect me (i have one of those ironclad immune systems, comes from shunning medications unless necessary and not minding a little dirt) I am so unused to being ill it brings out the drama queen in me
(dammit, you need an embarrassed smiley)
the worst i have been with flu is hallucinating with fever and it was my own fault for going out with the sniffles on a cold day, running up and down a mountain all day in kevlars and load carry kit.
physical activity makes the virus thrive i found

Thanks :) Yeah, it was very minor. Just kind of a shock to the system, when I was already under the weather.

same here.... :)
I like natural healing and warm bath. So far I discovered that heat is very important factor in self healing so whenever I feel something getting on I just go to sauna or fill a bath full of hot water and let the immune system do the rest. Immune system and antibodies have totally different dna than person carrying them so it's a body within a body.
Symbiosis that came trough evolution. We need to realize that and to take good care of our immune system.
Don't be afraid of dirt sometimes. And learn to listen to your body!
