How would you go about telling your parents that you're getting married?
My mom will react in one of two ways: happy or violent.
And it's not even so much throwing things and other asshattery, but the inevitable "What are you thinking? You haven't known him that long. You're going to destroy your future..." I can already hear this because this was her past.
I want her to be happy and supportive as his parents are being...
You don't wanna hear my speech on this.
I'll just say the odds are WAY fucking against you, but I wish for the best for you.

I don't mean the telling your mom part.

The engagement ring's the big, expensive, shiny one.
And you can always keep it. It's considered gauche to ask for it back.
