Well, it seems that Gary Gygax has died. Could this be the end of desktop roleplaying, or just the end of the stereotypical nerds playing A D&D? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Gygax
Maybe he just made a Critical Failure on his Saving throw, and ran out of Fate points...:D
Where ever boys and girls exist that dream of pretending to be elves, dwarves, wizards, witches, rogues, and druids but hate larpers...D&D will live on.

what's not to like, mead, pointy-ear baiting, more drinking, women in corsetry (though some have an ice queen persona to boot unfortunately). more drinking. bar brawls, drinking... completely lowering the tone of any situation, and carrying round a large long latex toy
an ideal thing before i go back to a government job and have to mind my manners and language with people paid far to much and with too little common sense
Ahh I'm just joshing you guys. I do SCA so pretty much the same thing. Just have bad memories of Vampire Larpers. Surely not all are crazy..just the ones I've met.

Well even though we don't classically roleplay..I still walk around dressed like a medieval German soldier calling people Lord and Lady and bowing to "Mein Kaiser". Then the whole combat thing. Have the marshall...bow to your opponet, your lady, the king/queen then fight. Ah better stop before I go on an pro sca rant :p:Quote:

Hasnt wow brought the new being to the Role playing games.. I am computer RPG Fan, I am playing Oblivion and Gothic.. I am paintballer, and there hugh role play in each game. What ever the theme of these 24 hour games might be from Star Wars Lords of the Rings to WW2 or Red Dawn. There is alot of people in my own sport that are D&D players. Yes I am little of Star Wars geeks, but I am happy in weirdness. Yeah, i am the guy over here and love it...

Oddly enough, every single one of my bfs that I've had role-played in one way or another, from D&D, to Warhammer 40K, to their own made up versions of role-playing. I think I have a thing for geeks. ;)
