Anyone have some anime suggestions?
I need something to watch.
I like:
Utawarerumono
Venus Versus Virus
Shakugan No Shana
Blood+
Gunslinger Girl
Battle Angel
Habine Renmei
Noir
Lain
Evangelion
Samurai X
FLCL
Gasaraki
Elfen Lied
So any suggestions to stuff similiar would be dope. I like shit that kind of makes you think.

Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
full metal alchemist and death note are the only anime i ever got into.
-
Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
I played the FMA game and couldn't really get into it. I saw the live action death note movie, couldn't really get into that either. :(
-
Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
I haven't been really following anime for a long long time now.
But I like Helsing and samurai champloo quite a bit.
Ghost in the Shell SAC is pretty good, but it tries to make episodes that are self-contained and sometimes instead of making it easier to follow it just comes off as being disconnected to whatever idea that show is trying to progress.
also I want to see the new(est) Witchblade series, it looks a lot like cuty honey. just busty mostly naked girl destroying massive ammount of stuff. i'm into that.
speaking of, elven lied is rad, I haven't met too many people that are into that one.
I know some people that are anime fanatics, but like I said, I have no idea what's "in".

i dont know about the FMA game, but i do know that the Death Note movie you kinda needed to already know what was going on. the anime is good, interesting through character deveopment and original concept rather than through action, and the movie pretty much covers the entire first season of the anime in like 2 hours. obviously a lot is missed. id reccomend you check out the first episode or two if you can, especially if you can do it for free.

Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
I'd go old school and say Akira and Vampire Hunter D

Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
Ghost in the shell, the first movie. Haven't had the time to watch the second one(Innocence), but the first one is really awesome. Ghost in the shell Stand Alone Complex is good too, but not quite as good as the movie
-
Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
the only anime i really got into is dragonball, dbz, dbgt,yu yu hakusho, inuyasha, an some of the gundam series. i have watched a little bit of vampire hunter d as well.

I don't anything about the game, but the anime IS worth watching, as is Death Note. I've seen the live action as well, and I wish I could take that back. But you need to watch both of these. As far as other suggestions:
Here are one you probably heard of, but I need to list just in case because they are awesome:
Cowboy Bebop
Princess Monokoe
Vampire Hunter D
Ghost in the Shell
Paranoia Agent
Spirited Away
Other anime that's great:
Azumanga Daioh: Adorable and off-humour
Darker Than Black: I'm not big on purely action-oriented animes, but this one really got me addicted (maybe it was the superpowers).
Gilgamesh: Weird anime about kids with superpowers.
Petit Cosette: If you're into Lolita stuff.
Paradise Kiss: A fashion/love anime, but it's still good.
Gantz: Fucked up anime. One of the best out there.
Ergo Proxy: Cyberpunk-ish, mind-tripping (towards the end) anime
Monster: It's a great drama.
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni: It tell a story, then again, but different...a bit fucked up

I've heard of some of this but the only thing I've had a chance to watch was Gilgamesh which I thought was creative but at the same time very boring and drawn out simply for the sake of the "concept". I'm going to deffiniatly work my way through the rest of your list,
@other comments I'm too lazy to quote:
I tried to get into steamboy for your very reason and it just didn't capture me the same way as Akira. I've seen a few episodes of Beserk and played the dreamcast game. It's pretty cool and I actually have the series on a disc but I haven't had the desire to sit down and watch it all. I don't know why. I enjoyed the first Ghost In a Shell movie. Need to watch the rest.

Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
I watch Bleach. Love it. Go with the subtitles if you can the english dub doesnt trans as well i find. Lupin III isnt bad and FMA is good the game was crap dont hold it against the anime =) I also just got a long list to check out from a friend I havent watched any of them yet will let you know which ones are good. Oh and I like Inuyasha...fuck anyone that has a problem with that. :thefinger Oh and Deathnote was one of the ones suggested i have'nt watched yet. Blood+ is great i need to see more of those haven't wateched it in a while.

Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
thanks alias, i almost forgot. my biggest reccomendation possible is for cowboy bebop. that shit be whack :thumb:
-
Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
Shoot! I forgot Ghost Hound! It has out-of-body experiences. :D
-
Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
The best animes I've ever seen and would recommend to anyone,
Ghost in the Shell (all three movies, + the animated series. High quality, intelligent characters/stories, philosophical, exciting.)
Cowboy Bebop (High quality and good stories)
Trigun (Sci-fi western with comedic content)
Azumanga Daioh (Incredibly funny/cute etc. My favorite non serious anime)
Monster (medical/weird shit)
Akira/Princess Mononoke/Nausica and Valley of the Winds etc: Classic, high quality anime movies.
and if you like Mechs and Police ...that watch Patlabor. I love that show but cant ever find it anymore.

Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
Le potette Cossette is a damn good horror OVA. Wicked City, .//hack, Trigun, Paprika, Tekonkinkreet, Anything Studio Gibi, Pet Shop of Horrors. Just to name a few
-
Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
Ooh, those are some good ones, a_small_death. /goes off to investigate the ones she's unfamiliar with.
-
Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
Jin Roh,
Grave of the fireflies
Hellsing, collection
GTO, collection
Armitage collection
Appleseed
Full metal panic collection
Ninja Scroll
Akira
Macross Plus
Record of Lodoss War collection
Patlobor I own all 3 movies...
Evangelion collection
Samurai X collection
Ping pong Club.. is probably the most unbelievably outrageous attempt at offensive comedy I've seen yet. If you think Beavis and Butthead and South Park are gross and repulsive, then don't even *consider* watching a single episode of this series. It's depraved, disgusting, and does nothing to hide the fact that it's supposed to be that way
Gundams...I am fan
Not really Anime but still really good
Heavy metal
heavy metal 2000
Aeon Flux
AniMatrix
Happy tree friends.. if want sick twisted fun...

Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
Saber Marionette series, apple seed, Jubei Chan: Ninja Girl, and totally agree with Grave of the fireflies.

Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
hentai iz da best anime evr

Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
Trying to get through Elfen Lied and man it's good but depressing at the same time. I might also recommend Nana the anime. I love the manga and the anime is turing out to be cool as well.

Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
Im curious, what exactly do you find depressing about Elfen Lied?
I watched Kite.Liberator this weekend. Good but I wish there was more to it. Considering it's been what 15 years since the original was made?

well I guess the mutants being abused and experimented on by people is kind of a bummer. I'm not really sure if that's supposed to be some kind of social commentary. Considering that the main charter royally annihilates everyone, it doesn't really make much sense that people would choose to mess with them. but oh well.
-
Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
I found the end a bit sad. I don't really want to give it away for those who haven't seen it.
I will say if you liked Elfen Lied then you should see Noir too. It has the same kind of effect you get when watching Elfen Lied.

Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
There seems to be a new anime out called Dethnote but I don't know much about it.
There are a couple duplicates here but I would recommend these:
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Blood: The Last Vampire (the movie, not the show)
Ghost in the Shell (the first movie)
Hellsing
Trigun
Cowboy Bebop
Wolf's Rain
Fruits Basket
Excel Saga
any movie by Hiyao Miyazaki

Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
Potette Cossette was a strange and really cool show. I thought at first it was gonna be all filler. Low and behold it's one of the most intense anime you will ever see. This is really good if you Like pet shop of horrors or VHD.

if thats *deathnote* then i would highly recomend it, but ive seen far too many animes with the same name, spelt slightly different to just assume that.
-
Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
Watch Deathnote in the subbed version. The english dub is really really emoish. The adult swim site airs episodes onlines all the time
-
Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
ive only seen it in original jap. some good shit.
-
Re: Anyone have some anime suggestions?
I still have not seen the 3 hour special yet. Will have to soon.
