Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
from news vine
17-year-old Chloe Marshall has just made history as "the first size 16 beauty queen to reach the finals of the Miss England contest," according to The Daily Mail.
She weighs 176 pounds, and she's proud to pose. "I want to show it's possible to be beautiful and not a standard size zero," Marshall tells reporters. She competed against a bevy of thinner women, but her judges in Surrey ultimately chose Chloe as the contestant with the most beauty.
Now she's delivering a message to critics attacking her by claiming that her body promotes an "unhealthy" lifestyle.
"I eat well, I exercise regularly — I jog, swim, and work out with weights.
"What I'm promoting is a healthy girl who looks after herself and doesn't try to force her body to be something its not."

Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
hey I think she looks good and who care as long as you are happy with yourself. Run with the ball people...

Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
I applaude her for being brave enough to stand up for herself, and be herself in an industry surrounded by size twos. In my opinion, shes gorgeous.
-
Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
I hope she wins, show the world that this fucking Size Zero shit is not all it's cracked up to be. I prefer a woman with curves.
-
Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
She does have a gorgeous figure :)
-
Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
you go girl!
haha. but I mean it. I got not one bad word to say about this.
-
Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
Looks pretty to me. As long as shes physically heathy, jogs, weghts etc I don't know how they can say she has an unhealthy lifestyle. Only 10% (I think?) have the genes to have a clasically thin/elven figure naturally. The rest have to torture/starve themselves.
If you got hips, boobs and a big butt then be happy. Plenty of men find that hot and you still get to eat icecream once in awhile too :D.

Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
I'm sure it's just the sizing difference, but when I read "size 16" I was expecting someone a lot bigger than the woman in the photo. She looks healthy to me. Good for her. More women need to stand up for their own personal body images.

Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
To be honest, the average size of women in the UK is Size 16, so she's more representative of the UK than any anorexic model could be. It's just the damned fashion mags that try to instill the skinny waifs as being normal. For comparison, a Uk size 8 is the equivalent of US size 0.
-
Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
Ah. Well, I'm a US size 6 so I guess that makes me a UK size 14? Or something like that.
Anyway, the whole idea of zero being a size makes no sense to me. Zero indicates NOTHING, and even anorexic people have something to their bodies. I think sizes should start at one; it makes more sense.

Damn right Spiral...you and me both..
every time i see one those girls, just want to give them something to eat.

Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
I think beauty is subjective and the media does a poor piss job of showing the variations of beauty in people regardless of their size..
-
Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
haha. size ghost for the disbodied spirits of the metaphysical.
-
Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
I just want to walk up to thin girls and give them mony to buy some pies to eat!
-
Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
: hides her size 0 pants : .... All I do is eat, and I still don't ever weigh more than 110 lbs... lol...
But honestly, the only problem I've ever had with women who have made comments like "What I'm promoting is a healthy girl who looks after herself and doesn't try to force her body to be something its not." is when they are obviously overweight (in a bad way) and are doing nothing to keep themselves HEALTHY... just because you have curves, doesn't mean you are healthy. It could quite possibly mean you are going to die from a heart disease, and are encouraging girls that eating whatever they want, whenever they want, while never exercising or taking care of yourself is perfectly fine, as long as you FEEL happy with your looks.....
I will probably get bitched at for posting that, but meh.
This beauty queen isn't like that, she tells everyone that she exercises, etc.... but the whole conversation lead this way...

Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
I had the exact prob until I went on a recent medication. I'm 5'6'' and weighed around 100 to 105, and looked normally skinny (think Fred on Angel, but not so mousey)
I could eat anything and not gain a pound.... the prob is, I would try to gain weight so ppl would quit calling me skinny, and even though it didnt show up on the outside, it does show up in my veins and arteries.

Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
good..when will people realize that a size zero means you don't exist..lol
no, I know some women just can't gain weight. But I dont think it should be promoted as the norm.

Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin

Eek, I don't want anyone to think that's what I meant from it. I wasn't saying anything negative about those who wear a size zero (because, of course, some people are naturally that size and healthy as well). I was just saying that the whole idea of "zero" being a size makes no sense and I think that clothing companies should start with "one" instead.

"Eek, I don't want anyone to think I'm unjustifiably bigoted against the word or mathematical concept 'zero' but..... /long rant clearly showing that you are."
With all respect.... Look what is wrong with this thing we loosely term "zero"? Where would Johnny Cypher be if he wasn't in Dimension "zero".

no... I don't know either.
You can't blithely rule out a whole dimension of people from in the future out of nowhere just because it "makes no sense". What would happen if we decided to cast a critical eye on everything that "makes no sense". No... I still don't know. Where would Robert Shapiro and Johnny Cochran be if there wasn't stuff that "makes no sense" I implore you to realise that this post itself "makes no sense".

Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
she will have healthy babies :)
-
Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
zero is not nothing. if it were, how could you have negative numbers? they would be less than nothing, which doesn't make any sense. zero is a balanced equation. so if you want to get right down to it, it's the perfect size to be.
-
Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
ok... you can be zero and I can be positive :)
-
Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
most people tell me i'm negative.

And with the first kid.... I gained 50lbs and the second one 30lbs

Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
(not knocking anyone who retained their baby weight, you earned every pound you gained and are still beautiful no matter what)

Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
Fat is beautiful in eskimos society. That's a fact. :)

Yes and they have hundreds of words to subtley describe what they see a lot of - snow. In the more Polynesian climes where I'm from we have a similar number to subtley describe what we see a lot of - fat.

Re: Beauty Queen Dares Not To Be Thin
