Mystery deepens as 4th severed foot found

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - Another severed human foot has been discovered washed ashore on Canada's Pacific coast, but police are no closer to solving the gruesome mystery.

The foot, still wearing a shoe, was discovered on Thursday on a small uninhabited island south of Vancouver in the Strait of Georgia, and is the fourth discovered in the region in the past 10 months.

The previous cases all involved right feet still in sneakers, and each was found on a different island.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have not said if the latest discovery was a right or left foot.

DNA testing has failed to link the earlier discoveries to any missing person cases.

Is it me, or do you wonder why anyone was on this uninhabited island, beachcombing for random body parts? Is Canadian TV really that boring?

it's a new deserted island reality show including cannibalism and japanese dwarfs.

what definition of uninhabited do you think they are using or is it just a screw up?

I think it's more that they just don't want it to be known just how many people are living out there on crown land

The number found is up to 6 now. 2 more this week. There is no evidence that the feet were forcibly severed from their corresponding legs. They may've washed ashore after an accident totalled a few folk upstream in the Fraser River. The feet seperated from the submerged bodies like other parts apparently do. The feet were encased in bouyant running shoes so they made the beach.

Any more than that, and you haven't a leg to stand on.

...and in the latest update, RCMP confirmed a few hours ago that they have identified the owner of one of the feet as "a man suffering from depression. We no longer suspect foul play in this particular case".

So, as Clouseau would say

Ahh yes yes of course - the old cut-off-your-own-feet-and-jump-into-the-ocean suicide ploy!
