Re: Amelia G Rocks Scientologist Socks (goofy sign maker)
Thanks, Rockwulf.
I've seen Scilons in the flesh and they're seriously fucked up people. Their emotions are completely reprogrammed by that known drug addict's bafflegab, and the proof's in the pudding. Check out what passes for human expression on a Scilon - the most famous experience being the bizarre affectations of a Mr. Cruise which were WELL parodied by Craig Ferguson and the Scary Movie series.

It is NOT a restricted copyrighted document I have to pay money to the authors for.
The day I go into a Christian church and am told that I'm welcome to learn about what the commandments are, but to learn the first one costs $1,000, the second $2,500. The third and fourth are $3,000 each. The Fifth is $10,000. The sixth and seventh will KILL ME if I read them before I am ready, but when I am, $25,000. By that point I will never grow old or sick. The eighth is $40,000. The nineth is $100,000 and the tenth is $500,000 but by that point I will have mastered space and time.... I'll say fuck them, too.
And my point was, people believed in virgin births back when science was unsophisticated and most people couldn't read. The bar is higher now, and the bullshit detectors should be working far better.
Okay, the window I work from overlooks Hollywood Blvd. I am a few blocks from a number of Scientology buildings. They hand out free books to people just strolling down Hollywood Blvd regularly. I've never gotten one myself, but, of folks on here, I know Voltaire was given one. Pretty sure she didn't pay for it.
Most religions, or at least those which recruit new members, have some way of getting manifestos to the people. Most religions also charge you for classes, if you don't want to just read the book on your own. Many religious cloisters have various supa dupa secret stuff they won't tell you, unless you put yourself through a wringer. I'm not an expert on Islam, but I believe that you can get the book for free, but you'd have to pay for classes in most instances and not all Mosques do things in Arabic or offer lessons in Arabic. I could be totally wrong on the Mosque thing; that's just my impression from having lived in the Middle East, going to school in Switzerland where a number of my classmates were Muslim, watching the news and such, and having been acquainted with people who went to prison.

I'll guarantee you her book was NOT the OT III tech documents.
I'll say it again. There is no "hidden" book of Christianity only given to those who have paid enough to the church. There are no surahs of the Koran only readable by those the clergy have deemed appropriate.
And yeah, I'm reasonably sure that if I went to a mosque or to an ashram with the sincere desire to read their works in the original, stuff'd get arranged. As opposed to me being asked for a specific monetary amount to find out how to poke someone with my finger to get them to calm down.
Scilon "tech" works the same way those "fuck chicks fast" books do. Simply go out and find people who have such low self esteem that your "you'd be lucky if I let you put my dick in you" will work. Most girls will tell you to fuck off, but the ones that don't, well, put your dick in them, come, and leave.
I find books like that vile, and Scilon bullbaiting and other crude mind control attempts laughable and obnoxious for the same reasons.

That is COMPLETE bullshit. You do NOT learn a GODDAMN thing in Scientology until the bill is paid. All you get for free is an advertising brochure, no more.
The day I can walk into any org and get access to read OT III without paying a cent, I'll grant them at least partially able to begin to claim tax-free status.

.
so if there's nothing hidden with christianity or the koran why do people spend thier lives studying that shit?
believe me, there's a small chance that scientology might last and in a few thousand years they're shit will be processed just like everybody elses mystical knowledge and it'll be the same shit just a different pile and the few little points that need to be preserved will be for another length of time........no other point to religion really

You think Christianity and Islam do not have any religious orders with secrets only available to certain select people? :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh You can turn on the History channel almost at random and get that disproved.
As a non-destitute person, what church do you believe you could go to for extensive study without being asked to kick them some dough? You know they charge for seminary, right? A quick Google shows that the average cost for seminary is currently $11,000 per year.
All chicks who dig guys, dig guys who believe they are a prize. People with high self-esteem want to be with other people with high self-esteem. But that's a whole nother ball o' wax.

Re: Amelia G Rocks Scientologist Socks (goofy sign maker)
What is Scientology's stance on charity?
I know there are many Christian charity organizations and the Jews do a lot of outreach. Do the Scientologists do that?
I realize, knowing my regular posting style that might come off as sarcastic but in this case I'm legitimately asking.

Scientologists do run several charities, and they are legit.

Re: Amelia G Rocks Scientologist Socks (goofy sign maker)
Oh cool. I'd never heard of any. They should promote that aspect more. It'd certainly help PR.
-
Re: Amelia G Rocks Scientologist Socks (goofy sign maker)
They've started doing that.
Don't get me wrong - a lot of people join in this thing because of a genuine desire to make a difference. Individual scilons, I have no beef with.

Re: Amelia G Rocks Scientologist Socks (goofy sign maker)
Like BP, I've got no problem with individual people who follow Scientology. I'm not a religious person, the way I see it, all religions say basically the same thing, the only difference is who the main prophet is and the overall reward for living a good life. But honestly, I have no idea what Scientology is about. All I know was that it was started by some science fiction writer. The whole idea to me seems more like an occult than a religion.
You know, all this religion talk gives me a tattoo idea... I think I'm going to watch the episode of South Park where they rip on Scientology. You know they put everyone's name as John and Jane Smith in the credits to mock the Scientologists and their silly lawsuit games.

There's a pic of L Ron Hubbard hooking up a tomato to an E-meter to find out its emotional responses.
