Re: Lyrics From Some Of Your Favorite Songs?
Well she comes from the land
Of Valencian winds
Deciduous daydream
Dressage round the bend
See sometimes just maybe
The mistress of when
A triptych of new touch
From heaven to men
She likes nice cars
Invisible trends
She bites the heads off
Her mutual friends
We dine at the table
She sits at the end
She likes big words
And playing pretend
Come now dear boys
How, where to begin?
She's Ursula, major
Of the prison within
She's always in parties
She's struggling to win
Your sashes of New-Ro
From psychic to sin
Let down your void
Your need to defend
So pseudo-mindacious
She's cruel in bed
You'd think she was precious
Something like you said
Cause she's got the secret
In which fate depends
She likes nice cars
Impossible trends
She bites the heads off
Her beautiful friends
We dine at the table
She sits at the end
She likes big words
Although we'll never comprehend
She likes nice cars
Invisible trends
She bites the heads off
Her musical friends
We dine at the table
She sits at the end
She likes big words
She likes nice cars
Impossible trends
She bites the heads off
Her beautiful friends
She lights all the candles
They burn at both ends
She likes the ones
That you'll never understand
She likes big words
Re: Lyrics From Some Of Your Favorite Songs?
"Hey ho, lets go shoot em in the back now"
"Theres a new game
We like to play you see
A game with added reality
You treat me like a dog
Get me down on my knees
We call it master and servant
We call it master and servant
Its a lot like life
This play between the sheets
With you on top and me underneath
Forget all about equality
Lets play master and servant
Lets play master and servant
Its a lot like life
And thats whats appealing
If you despise that throwaway feeling
From disposable fun
Then this is the one
Dominations the name of the game
In bed or in life
Theyre both just the same
Except in one youre fulfilled
At the end of the day
Lets play master and servant
Lets play master and servant
Lets play master and servant
Come on, master and servant"
"I dont want to start any blasphemous rumours
But I think that gods got a sick sense of humor
And when I die I expect to find him laughing
Girl of eighteen, fell in love with everything
Found new life in jesus christ
Hit by a car, ended up
On a life support machine"
"Im drunk.
and right now i'm so in love with you.
and i don't want to think too much about what we should or
shouldn't do.
lay my hands on Heaven and the sun and the moon and the
stars.
while the devil wants to fuck me in the back of his car.
nothing quite like the feel of something new.
maybe i'm all messed up.
maybe i'm all messed up.
maybe i'm all messed up in you."
"I'll do my time and I won't argue
A broken glass a portrait of you
I play on keys of barely in tune
Foget the reasons I won't resume
It's not me who wanted fame
I just needed to
I cash my life and lost my ID
Apathy is all I see
Leave the numbers all behind me
You are all I've got inside me
I don't need to be encaged
I just need to rearrange
I can't see you anymore
I can't leave right out the door
After all that we've been through
I can't be with or without you
You finally made it on TV
It's not the way you hoped it'd be
and all the pain of the insanity
was this ever meant to be
And I don't think that I am thee
one that you keep telling me
It's tearing us up
And it's breaking me down
All I'll be, I'll be
With or without you..."
OK DONE NOW

Here's a little gem from Phoenix's own AJJ:
Rejoice, God's ears are stitches. Rejoice, his eyes are big X's.
Rejoice, his arms are burning witches. Rejoice, his hands perform hexes.
Rejoice, the bed you sleep in is burning. Rejoice, the sky's fucking falling.
Rejoice, the world we know is turning. Rejoice, your father's been calling.
Rejoice, although this world will devastate you.
Rejoice, although this world will penetrate you.
Rejoice, although you will never survive.
Rejoice, you'll never make it out alive.
Rejoice, your hair it smells like burning. Rejoice, your nails all got chewed off.
Rejoice, holy shit you're drowning. Rejoice, you burned your whole beard off.
Rejoice, despite the fact this world will hurt you.
Rejoice, despite the fact this world will kill you.
Rejoice, despite the fact this world will tear you to shreds.
Rejoice, because you're trying your best.
Re: Lyrics From Some Of Your Favorite Songs?
Ani Difranco fan ahoy - School Night .. was listening to it walking today and only really started listening to the lyrics.
she went over to his apartment
clutching her decision
and he said, did you come here to tell me goodbye?
so she built a skyscraper of procrastination
and then she leaned out the twenty-fifth floor window
of her reply
and she felt like an actress
just reading her lines
when she finally said
yes. it's really goodbye this time
and far below was the blacktop
and the tiny toy cars
and it all fell so fast
and it all fell so far
and she said:
you are a miracle but that is not all
you are also a stiff drink and i am on call
you are a party and i am a school night
and i'm lookin' for my door key
but you are my porch light
and you'll never know, dear
just how much i loved you
you'll probably think this was
just my big excuse
but i stand committed
to a love that came before you
and the fact that i adore you
is but one of my truths
what of the mother
whose house is in flames
and both of her children
are in their beds crying
and she loves them both
with the whole of her heart
but she knows she can only
carry one at a time?
she's choking on the smoke
of unthinkable choices
she is haunted by the voices
of so many desires
she's bent over from the business
of begging forgiveness
while frantically running around
putting out fires
but then what kind of scale
compares the weight of two beauties
the gravity of duties
or the ground speed of joy?
tell me what kind of gauge
can quantify elation?
what kind of equation
could i possibly employ?
and you'll never know, dear
just how much i loved you
you probably think this was
just my big excuse
but i stand committed
to a love that came before you
and the fact that i adore you
is just one of my truths
so i
i'm goin' home
to please the one i so love pleasing
and i don't expect
he'll have much sympathy for my grieving
but i guess that this is the price
that we pay for the privilege
of living for even a day
in a world with so many things
worth believing
in
Re: Lyrics From Some Of Your Favorite Songs?
good one SN, it made me think of this song.
"I thought I could find you" by Paul Baribeau
I thought I could find you if I walked through a snowstorm
As if you were hiding under a white pile of snow
I thought I could find you if I sat through a rainstorm.
As if you were made of the same stuff as lightening
I thought I could find you if I held on to an ice cube
As if you would be there when my hand opened
I thought I could find you if I never closed me eyes
As if you might flash like a camera
'Cuz you are made of the softest parts of snow
And the quiet sound of rain
And the warm stuff that melts the ice
And the force that moves the waves
And I thought I could find you
Re: Lyrics From Some Of Your Favorite Songs?
ok, here's my last one for the night. this is practically my theme song.
I could go off the deep end. I could kill all my best friends. I could follow stylish trends. And God knows I could make amends. But I've got an angry heart, filled with cancers and poppy tars. If this is how you folks make art, it's fucking depressing. It's sad to know that we are not alone, and it's sad to know there's no honest way out. I'm afraid to leave the house. I'm as timid as a mouse. I'm afraid if I go out I'll outwear my welcome. I'm not a courageous man. I don't have any big lasting plans. Too cowardly to take a stand, I want to keep my nose clean. And it's sad to know that we're not alone in this, and it's sad to know there's no honest way out. In this life we lead we could conquer everything if we could just get the brave to get out of bed in the morning.

Re: Lyrics From Some Of Your Favorite Songs?
This must be the place (naive melody)
By The Talking Heads
Home is where I want to be
Pick me up and turn me round
I feel numb
Born w/ a weak heart
I guess I must be having fun
The less we say about it the better
Make it up as we go along
Feet on the ground, head in the sky
It's ok,I know nothings wrong
Nothing
Hi oh,I got plenty of time
Hi oh,you got light in your eyes
And your standing here beside me
I love the passing of time
Never for money,always for love
Cuddle up and say goodnight
Say goodnight
Home is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home, she lifted up her wings
I guess that this must be the place
I can't tell one from another
Did I find you,or you find me?
There was a time, before we were born
If someone asks, this is where I'll be
Where I'll be
Hi oh,we drift in and out
Hi oh,sing into my mouth
And of all those kinds of people
You got a face w/ a view
I'm just an animal looking for a home,
and we share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me til my heart stops
Love me til I'm dead
Eyes that light up,
eyes look through you
cover up the blank spots, hit me on the head
I go..eeeeeeeeeeeeeehhh...
Re: Lyrics From Some Of Your Favorite Songs?
Another glass half full song(on a kind of downer note I want this played at my funeral),before the glass half empty song..
Happy Phantom
by Tori Amos
And if I die today,I'll be the happy phantom
And I'm go chasing the nuns out in the yard
And I'll run naked through the streets w/out my mask on
And I will never need umbrellas in the rain
I'll wake up in strawberry fields everyday
And the attrocity of school I can forgive
The happy phantom has no right to bitch
Woohoo,the time is getting closer
woohoo, the time to be a ghost
woohoo,everyday it's getting closer
The sun is getting dim, will we pay for who we been?
So if I die today,I'll be the happy phantom
And I'll go wearing my naughties like a jewel
They'll be my ticket to the universal opera
There's Judy Garland's taking Buddah by the hand
and then the 7 little men got up to dance
I hear Confusius does his crosswords w/ a pen
I'm still the angel to a girl that hates to sin
Woohoo,the time is getting closer
woohoo, the time to be a ghost
woohoo,everyday we're getting closer
the sun is getting dim
will we pay for who we been
Or will I see you dear and wish I could come back?
You found a girl that you could truly love again
Will you still call for me when she falls asleep?
Or do we soon forget the things we cannot see?
Woohoo,the time is getting closer
woohoo, the time to be a ghost
woohoo,everyday we're getting closer
the sun is getting dim
will I pay for who I been?
