MG... may I? Hey OK...
Like all of us I at first assumed that this was an excerpt from the re-worked lyrics for "Candle In The Wind" from the special Royal Command performance Elton John gave in Jackie's honour... you know... like he did for Princess Di with "Goodbye English Rose...".
Thankfully truth is stranger than (poor) fiction and in fact these are almost certainly an excerpt from the re-worked lyrics to "Randy's House" by "Andrew Jackson Jihad" from the perfectly titled album "People Who Can Eat People are the Luckiest People in the World". No doubt this is from the special royal Command performance Morning Glory gave in Jackie's honour... you know... like MG did for Addis who burnt down the burning man man last year with his classic thread Burning Man... burning, man.
The original lyrics follow. You judge whether a team of copyright lawyers need to be mustered.
I've got the rotten apple core feeling, dying like a living ghost, now I'm lying on the ground not making a sound, thinking I love you the most.
And I hope our candles flicker and die so that our hearts don't burn to the ground, down, down, just like Randy's house.
When you kissed me on the cheek with a gun I became a setting sun, now you're heading west bound while I'm lying on the ground thinking you were the one.
And I hope our candles flicker and die so that our hearts don't burn to the ground, down, down, just like Randy's house.

Helcyon, you're a real pal! Thanks for going the extra mile for the sake of friends and clarity.

Re: My House ... My House ... My House Was On Fire
I'd love to go to burning man.
Re: My House ... My House ... My House Was On Fire
you are clearly a well of knowledge, Helcyon. even I had forgotten about that burning man thread.
there's a little bit more to the story. I don't know the original "randy" of the song, but our friend Sean's house later caught fire. After that point, perhaps marveling at the coincidence of having two friends that had burning houses, or because of their shared namesake ( the guy who wrote that song is named Sean also), future replays of the song would be sung about Sean's burning house. It is with that tradition in mind, that I decided to pay homage to our friend here whose house of course also burnt down.
stranger than fiction, indeed.

Thanks and it definitely can be. I ended up on a street that is the same as my grandfather's in english. He's going to take a cruise up the Mississippi here in August. Looking forward to getting some photos at their old house.

Thanks. I've alway believed in some odd synchronicity in life. I suppose it is the closest to "faith" I really come.
