i think i'll like it. :)
hahaha
Future cult classic. I still wish my email hadn't messed up before they shot this though. :(
AHHH PARIS HILTON : runs and hides under pillow :

AAHHHH, I've been waiting for this for forever! And then they go and only do a limited theater release! :(
/waits anxiously for DVD
I'll take Blu-Ray... High Def murder musical FTW... :^)
It was ok...
Not the best movie ever, but not terrible either.
I could live without all the singing.
Some cool imagery, and decent cinematography and costumes...
Um... it's a rock opera. even says so in the name LOLQuote:

Hmm, it's going to be here next week, maybe we'll go.
Paris is terrible))))
Ok, to clarify, I just wish they would not sing EVERY line.
I did not mind Moulin Rouge at all. Thought it was pretty good.
But this was like they were trying to just do their regular
lines as actors, but making them "sing-songey"...
"I am going to the bathrooooom!"
"I will see you in a minuuuuuute!"
And not many of them were very good singers.
There is a difference between having a movie with *songs*
versus a movie with all the lines being sung...
Well, that's the difference between opera and musical theatre, isn't it?
I imagine I'm with you on prefering the latter, though.

Your avatar needs to move its hands out of the camera's view. :)Quote:

I recently rented that. Blind Meg makes the biggest splash and I ended up wanting to hear her sing more and the predictable plot to go away and haunt the director. Over all it's a movie to watch when you want to watch a movie and nothing else is grabbing your interest.
My favorite musical so far is American Astronaut..
Jomei
I watched it last weekend; it's pretty sweet. The everything-must-be-sung thing only seemed awkward for the first forced song by that narrator-drugdealer character that looked like a really cheap 'classy' type goth, but either I got used to it, all the other songs were better, or the goth guy changing into a better outfit later on made me less critical.
Very cool visuals everywhere made the experience, mostly. Reminded me somewhat of the early batman movies with all the punky/gothy/generally extreme & unusual people everywhere, except here it wasn't just the badguys and filler characters but pretty much everyone on the cast but the two old men and - somewhat more unexpectedly - the psycho killer son. The cityscape and general worldsetting where very cool too.
I'm trying to decide if I want to spend my last few dollars until payday on this movie. I love Ogre, Paris Hilton is my guilty pleasure, and I am a former theater geek so it seems like it would be up my alley or so they say....
I already own it (thanks to K), but because my Vista-based laptop blows so many diseased goats at once, it's impossible to get the picture to play in sync with the music. I'm trying it again on a proper DVD player today...
... but my expectations are as high as they can be for a movie that took a Golden Raspberry. As a theater buff (as in, these last six years represent the longest time I've EVER been off-stage) I'm looking forward to seeing how effectively they translated the stage play to film.
But, as it's got Ogre in it, it can already do no wrong! If I wasn't already God, I'd be tempted to give the title to him... but this is SP's most die-hard fan speaking, and so I'm perhaps a bit biased.
Perhaps I'll give it a true review after I've actually seen more than just one out-of-sync scene.
oh! i saw this! it pwns.
*-*
of course the people i was watching it with were bitching about it being a musical but i told them to shut the fuck up.
i grew up going to the theatre so i like musicals o3o i wanted to be in musical theatre when i grew up at one point.
but. *yeys* one of my favorite things ever.
and i love love love sarah brightman's voice *-*
i'm listening to the soundtrack *right now* :3
if it weren't for Tony Head and Sarah Brightman i would have wandered off to get crackers to go with all the cheese. i mean i went into the viewing knowing it was bad, but really it's just fan service at this point. it's worse than bad. even dave turned it off halfway through, before anyone even off'd paris. *shakes head*
another night when i'm toasty and buzzed i might give it another watch, maybe even watch it till the end. in the mean time i'll stick to Dr Horrible's sing along blog.
~K
i'm obsessing over chromaggia *-*
damn. i used too be able to sing shit like that... now ... ehh.... not so much.
doesn't keep me from annoying the neighbors by trying XD
this has got everything i like... good music *mostly*, the grave digger guy is pretty hot, blood and gore and futuristic weirdness, rebellion, paris hilton's face falling off....
now see news like that makes me want to sit through the whole thing just to watch that happen.Quote:

I pre-ordered this and watched it last week. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be from all the hype, but I loved the grave-robber, he had a sexy voice. :)
i know, right?Quote:

considering i ignore hype, i think it's FABULOUS.
my throat hurts from trying to be sarah brightman, though. -_-
takes me back to high school when i was obsessed with phantom of the opera. my voice was in shape then, though. since i was in choir.
You're only supposed to try the singing - not deep-throating Andrew Lloyd Webber.Quote:

It's a pretty amazing movie and you should watch it if you haven't.
But there's something horrible going on, Universal it ripping them off COMPLETELY with a movie they are releasing called repossession mambo. wtf. It has basically exactly the same plot but with more well known actors and such. It's complete bullshit i say.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1053424/
fail.
support www.repo-opera.com
i havent gotten around to it and they were playing it alongside the rocky horror picture show out here-they do rocky shadowcasts out here- universal sounds pretty lame for trying to rip it off. hopefully it will fail epicly.
you should see itttt!!!
i really hope they start a shadowcast out here because i'd LOVE to get in on it. And yea alot of people are pissed with universal, and loinsgate (the people that did repo!) loinsgate thought repo! was horrible and that it would fail and not have a great fanbase so they pulled alot of stuff (merch and things) and now universal thinks it's ok to rip them off. blargh i hate it! especially since it was such an amazing film/musical!
oh and graverobber=hoottttt
