It may seem kind of odd, but even though I dont smoke, drink, or do drugs, I have no problem with them being made legal, if people do that responsibly.
Your thoughts/comments/opinions,etc?
I dont mind if people do drugs like weed,etc, but I prefer that they do that in an open area, or away from Me, as I cant seem to take even the smell of that stuff, even if it is unlit.

Well like most things, in moderation that can be OK but, there are those who are like myself and have a tendency to over indulge in everything they do...
I have no problems with legalization as long as the laws that follow are a little more stringent... An extreme example would be in the case of a car accident and someone was to lose their life, the operator of the vehicle which caused the accident just moments before smoked a joint, subsequently he is tested and it comes up positive, then I believe the charge should be murder not accidental vehicular homicide...
That of course is my opinion and it brobably doesn't amount to a hill of beans but, I have seen to many friends die in similar situations...
I agree. The stuff should be legal, but should have strict types of safety precautions.

I think it should be legal, and the whole country educated more on the effects. The government can make alot of money off it, and the insurance companies should deny coverage for anyone with health complications from the drug use. So, if you fuck yourself up because of it, the insurance companies will not be there to bail your lame ass out over and over again. It would save alot of money on health care, and it would weed out alot of people who need it.
I see to many pathetic crack heads come into my hospital constantly, and my tax money keeps paying to detox them, just so they can do it all over again. Bah.

Considering that alcohol is just as dangerous as most other drugs out there, I think we should legalise all drugs. We have the choice to walk in front of traffic if we want to, why not have a choice to kill ourselves in other ways?! And besides, it has been medically shown that some drugs (like cannabis) can help relieve stress, pain, etc.
I don't think we should be able to buy drugs from shops, maybe we should go to the doctor and explain WHY we want to take the drugs first of all, and if the explaination is good enough, then give them a prescription

Yeah, maybe if all the drugs were legalized, there's be some more positive sides to it.
1. Ration the drugs out so no one overloads
2. Government can tax it, so they'd be getting money out of it
3. Guarenteed it's good stuff. Dont have to worry about the druggie you found on the corner if he switched it with rat poison or not
4. Safer to buy from a pharmacist that a dealer
weed yes. extasy yes(i think it should be returned to prescription medication like it was invented for) most other drugs: yes but there needs to be a middle ground between some way of control or something to keep people safe(r) coke? i'm still iffy about, heroine NO. it kinda depends on how easily it is to totally fuck up your life on it... but its a hard call b/c everyone is different.
the thing with coke and heroin is that its a lot worse if you get it on the street if you legalized it you would see a lot less accidental overdoses and people commiting crimes for drug money (a problem which exists though it is exaggerated) also you can ration it so people can only buy so much
simply for the fact that it would clear out TONS of room in jails, I definitely think drugs should be legalized. there is so much violence involved with drug deals gone wrong. & it just seems incredibly unfair that I should have to pay for somebody's room & board because they happened to be in possession of an eighball or an ounce of weed. the taxpayers wouldn't have to pay...what is it?...something like $40,000 per year per prisoner, & the government could tax the drugs. or at least decriminalize soft drugs.

We should start a petition, but I doubt that would really acomplish anything.
That's a really tough question, especially since my best friend sort of dissapeared into the crack tenements of homelessville and every boy I have ever loved has been a drug addict.
Some of them should be, some of them should not be, but who can say? Ectasy does permanent damage, so do a lot of them... Maybe regulated, legal but regulated.... Codeine pills should be legal because I really like them and my back really hurts today...
Why are drug addicts so beautiful and cool? And normal people are so boring?
If the govt was ever going to legalize drugs, the whole plan would have to include more than just making it legal to own it and sell it. They would need to include funds for setting up treatment centers, etc. The whole huffing phenomenon is the biggest reminder that if people really want to get high, they will find a way. They will sniff paint, glue, etc... It's people's own choices. If they want to swallow glass, or rocks, then they will. The big question is about hospitals, etc. But I am guessing that if drugs were legal, and tested, and regulated, you would have less OD's, and less problems related to use. And all the money spent on prisons, could be used for treatment, education, and law enforcement of the real crimes, like stealing, etc... I'd rather they focused on busting the addicts for stealing, than busting drug dealers...

I think that in the US drugs and drug use should at the very least be decriminalized. Given the clogged prison system and unfair state to state regulations it's become crystal clear that the "War On Drugs" has been a big fat failure.
If the goverment regulated and taxed 'controlled substances' the revenues could be put to great use. Not to mention it'd cut down on the time police spend busting Joe Shmoe the happy stoner in his house and be able to do more in the community to make our communities safe from actually dangerous people.
I also think that America has the wrong attitude towards drug addiction in general. The problem is far too diverse and wide spread to be treated as a wholesale evil the way it is.
So yes in a nutshell I think the prohibitions should if not be made legal than the laws changed.
