If you could only eat one food ...
If you could only eat one type of food for a week, what would it be?
I'm thinking about this because, not being able to go grocery shopping coupled with keeping extra weird hours because I have trouble sleeping in the cast . . . well, I've been eating some weird limited cuisine. There are also fad diets like eat all the ice cream you want but only ice cream.
So, if you had to limit it for a week, but it could be anything, what would you choose?

Re: If you could only eat one food ...
Pasta. I'd change the sauces every day though ...
Or pizza, because you can eat pizza for a month here and not have the same topping twice (and they deliver for nothing).

You only have one topping in the US?
Okay, joking aside (honest), we have two pizza shops on this small town (3600 people direct, 11000 in the region). One is run by an Italian and one is run by students. Both supposidly prepare and cook everything themselves. I order *only* from the students because I can go there and watch them make the pizza and I *know* that it's going to taste good. And their vegetarian pizza is worth eating four times a month ...
Hey, this was post number 500. Pop another bottle Jeeves, it's party time.

i absolutely love perogies.
but if ur on a tight budget and worried about ur health, try beans, i'm serious, they have everything u need and arent expensive at all, and u can get them in lots of varieties (i like the maple ones the best)
-
Re: If you could only eat one food ...
either pizza or gyros as long as they are good gyros and if i could alternate between chicken and lamb in them
-
Re: If you could only eat one food ...
The ice cream thing sounds pretty good, I would eat ice cream for a week. If it could only be a single kind of ice cream, it would be oreo ice cream! :D
Of course, Ham and Pineapple pizza from Pizza Hut is really damn good too, so it would be a toss up...I guess I'd choose the pizza in the winter, and the ice cream in the summer!

Re: If you could only eat one food ...
Gotta back the pasta thing. When I was poor... when I was poorer than I am now I lived off pasta because you can throw anything in it. Redsauce, or just cheese garlic and butter, a little teryaki and chicken, or black pepper and olive oil. best eats I had for about $1 a day.
Although potato and cheese perogies with salsa sounds really good right now.

Re: If you could only eat one food ...
But if I had to pick only one kind of food it would have to be Chinese or Thai... specially since they deliver and the Chinese place has a full service bar... delivering Tsingtao, Sapporo or whatever tasty adult beverage.. plus they already have the credit card and address on record. :thumb:

The Roasted Garlic & Herb Cheemo are excellent with Bali's Best roasted garlic hot sauce... can never have too much garlic or spicy hotness.
Also good baked with pasta sauce and fresh grated romano.

Re: If you could only eat one food ...
My father's side of the family is Ukrainian, and my Grandma made the absolute BEST perogies with potatoes and sauerkraut (sp?). My dad and I could make Cabbage rolls to match that couldnt' be beat....great food.
SindelChaos....to be specific, Perogies are dumplings. You have a pasta-like outer covering and you fill them with a type of stuffing...mushroom and cheese is really good, typically the stuffing consists of potatoes and something else. You boil them and can also fry them to make them nice and crispy and golden on the outside...yummy. They are commonly eaten with fried onions and sour cream. They come from European countries, Poland, Ukraine etc.
:D Good stuff!!!

Ah, right. Yeah, generally we have a spicy tomato sauce under the topping, but that can be changed to if ordered in advance: hot, mild, herbs and spices ...

in an anthropolgy course i took last year we each had to study a country and bring in a dish. one girl whose family was Ukranian brought in perogies, they were stuffed with patato and cheddar cheese and served with sour cream, bacon bits and dill seed. they were really good, minus the dill (yuck).

I'm a vegetarian too, can live without the candy but need chocolate, nuts and grapes to survive (mentally). Sad thing is that grapes give me rather more wind than I can hide even in rude company ...
