Raise your hand if you enjoy whinging about kinda nothing
I first joined these forums years ago because I've loved the Blue Blood photography and been a member of the sites for so long. I'm a little bothered by some of the people I see posting here since I was last on the forums. It doesn't take that many bad apples to put me off and some people just seem like I don't know why someone like that would be here. Pictures like this are what I love about Blue Blood.

we're here because we love, jill.
we love too much, and it makes us itchy.
so we come to the internet and post about our love.
and this is where we do our posting, about how we love. too much.

That was great.

Re: Raise your hand if you enjoy complaining about kinda nothing
Now you all have your very own thread to put your negative energy in. Enjoy.
And I learned how to do a new thing with forum software. So everybody wins.

Re: Raise your hand if you enjoy whinging about kinda nothing
Who's complaining Amelia?
I was just talking about our love.
And our itch.
On the internet. Where we post about such things.

Re: Raise your hand if you enjoy whinging about kinda nothing
Actually on further reflection, I think it's kind of unfair to list deathrockjill as the OP of this thread under the title "raise your blah blah", since she certainly didn't start this thread, or intend to begin a new thread at all.
This is one of several editorial decisions lately that make me uncomfortable, altering a thread, and ascribing authorship to a poster who did not write what seems to now be their words for what ever reason seems confusing and unfair, no matter how frustrated an admin. is with said poster. Edit the site however you like, but it seems like a more fair solution to be clear about such edits in the future.

Second that concern - I'm all for free speech, but that speech is the property of the speaker, whether they choose to put it on a forum or nail it on the wall of the Jeffersonian. Quoting and moving posts is fine, inventing stuff is not.

I think all you goobers take the interwebs too seriously.

The arbitrary censorship is getting kind of old.
Just saying, I get that this is your board so it's your show and it's free and blah blah blah. But if you want to present yourself as such a bastion of coolness and independence, maybe you shouldn't delete 50% of my posts just because of a fat joke or the fact that I mention that adblockers exist, etc.
At least the last time Forest deleted one of my comments he had the decency to send a PM with an explanation.

Re: The arbitrary censorship is getting kind of old.
Yeah! Down with the censor!
Let's find something that isn't a book to set fire to, to emphasize our point.

Censorship on the forum....
Do you think it should exist?
I'm asking because I've seen enough threads that discuss certain posts being deleted and to be honest with you, it actually makes me want to see those censored posts even more, because now they have become in a way, taboo....:eeek:
What say you all?
-
Re: Censorship on the forum....
I've said it every time before. Censorship is stupid. There's not really any exceptions.
Dismissing comments about it as whining is also somewhat ironic, since the desire to be rid of certain statements is that exact same kind of negativity, except enforced rather than merely expressed.

Re: Raise your hand if you enjoy whinging about kinda nothing
I'm a little miffed over the deletion of my various posts. Most recently was one that was "mean" to a model. Even though I believe that once you start doing hardcore porn you've pretty much become a public figure and are open to ridicule but the powers that be don't seem to agree with that assessment.

Re: Raise your hand if you enjoy whinging about kinda nothing
<raises hand>
However i don't like whinging about kinda something.
Similarly it's more interesting to talk about stuff you don't know about loudly and at length. Stuff you do know about can be boring.
For the same reason I wouldn't like to write a novel. I would rather not know what happens in a novel until it does. Plus I can't write that much.
This isn't a very good whinge. Ok I'll try: I don't have enough problems today apart from financial (covers a lot), emotional (lack of human emotions), physical (fell over on Sunday and although it didn't hurt it looks like someone has hit me with a pipe on the side of my head. Tip: if you are trying to physically assault me don't bother belting me in the head - I won't feel it due to a natural thickness of the skull), spiritual (what?), substance abuse (see financial), social (no wonder) and mental (obvious).

A moment of silence please

Re: A moment of silence please
Dude, it was Halloween. Did you think all the goth kids would be home on the interwebs?

Re: Raise your hand if you enjoy whinging about kinda nothing
Last time I witnessed a forum's death was IIDB. Atheism centered board, many times bigger than blueblood.
It'd always had a subforum called 'Elsewhere', where all the threads labeled drama or nonsense were sent - available for viewing, so it wouldn't count as censorship, but humiliated and out of sight.
One day the people running the place declared some new rules - or started enforcing old ones differently, I don't remember exactly - and more threads started going there. Much of the established poster base didn't like this, and threads got started to call out the forum leadership on their policies. Instead of explaining themselves, the admins sent these threads to Elsewhere; and the people muttered but accepted this, and instead started new threads to discuss the new rules and policies amongst themselves. These threads were sent to Elsewhere also, and the muttering got louder. Petitions got started, and moved to Elsewhere. Mods resigned and posted their perspectives, which got dumped in Elsewhere.
Towards the end, people were either just starting their threads in =E= outright, or had stopped posting entirely, moving on to free-er pastures.
Last time I checked that place they were in the process of changing their domain, and the mostly freshly recruited leadership was frantically sending out mass PMs about how referring to other forums in your 'location' field was henceforth forbidden.
Just sayin'.

Re: Raise your hand if you enjoy whinging about kinda nothing
The biggest, longest, and most popular threads are always the ones where people are arguing and debating things. So if we all agreed, and acted nice, and got along, there wouldn't be that much to talk about...
I used to be on a now defunct forum, that had been abandoned. So there were no moderators at all. And it worked fine. The idiots and trolls got insulted until they left, and if someone posted a rude opinion, people would blast them about it. It becomes an actual community, where you have to stand up for each other, rather than waiting for some moderator to ease your bruised feelings.

Re: Raise your hand if you enjoy whinging about kinda nothing
My favorite forums never had any rules, just laws.
Anything that was illegal IRL was banned (No kiddie porn, etc)
And they never had a focus. You could come in, make yourself at home and talk about whatever you wanted. If you had a problem with your plumbing, there'd be a couple guys there to offer solutions, if you wanted to rant about why you hated a movie, a good discussion would get going from different points of view and you'd probably leave the thread with a few ideas of things to rent next time.
A 17 year old punk kid from Philly would match wits with a 60 year old coot from Oklahoma, a 30-something single mom from Canada, a hippie spoiled rich dipshit girl from California and a semi-retarded senior citizen tiki bar owner from Florida and have some pretty awesome conversations.
When someone said something stupid, they were laughed at. When someone said something funny, they were laughed with.
Neutrality and objectivity were the words of the day. It doesn't matter how good a friend someone might be IRL or online, if they posted something pants-on-head-retarded they were flamed by everyone.
Trolls were routinely ganged up on with the pack mentality of ravenous hyenas.
It was a rough place, but like all the best bars in your town, the unpredictability was what made you keep coming back.
I shall miss it.

What is this 'fall' you speak of?

Re: Raise your hand if you enjoy whinging about kinda nothing
It was pretty dead here this weekend. I think that's what this particular subthread was about.

Re: Raise your hand if you enjoy whinging about kinda nothing
well, everybody here seems to have a life and over the years there is a consistency here that's sort of rare to find
