Dont you..forget about me..
"John Hughes, the producer, writer and director whose 1980s films such as "Sixteen Candles," "The Breakfast Club" and "Some Kind of Wonderful" offered a sharp-eyed look at teenagers and their social habits, has died, according to a statement from his representative. He was 59."

I enjoyed his movies a lot growing up and the wifey grew up near the school they used to shoot Breakfast Club.
What was/is your favorite movie by Mr. Hughes?
Re: Dont you..forget about me..
It's a toss up between Planes Trains and Automobiles and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Re: Dont you..forget about me..
I was not a fan in general, but I loved loved loved Weird Science and it is so sad that he passed so young.
Re: Dont you..forget about me..
i can not in any way imagine having grown up without his movies. most of them are still good, and worth watching today. :'(
Re: Dont you..forget about me..
Never heard of the guy, and his stuff sounds dreadfully mundane and dramatic.
I'll have forgotten by tomorrow, I'm afraid.

You're never too young to die.
ABORTION IS STILL COOL.
Re: Dont you..forget about me..
i love the breakfast club - its in my all time top 10 movie favs.
Re: Dont you..forget about me..
his movies were good mind numbing salve, nothing more. they may have said something to the 16 yr old me, but as we all know now, life isn't that crucial when you're a teenager, it just feels like it is.
it's sad, but it does happen to everybody eventually. he'll be missed, i'm sure.

Re: Dont you..forget about me..
Either some kind of wonderful, or breakfast club.
Re: Dont you..forget about me..
I can't quite get a handle on whether Breakfast Club was as good as its cult status now paints it or not, but I certainly feel the best bit was the last 5 minutes, which is probably the bit as a teenager nobody saw the pathos behind.
