Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
Would you illegally buy a black market human organ to save your own life or the life of a loved one?
I'll start. My one concern with something like that of black market origins would be quality. I wouldn't want to be like, "hey, honey, you got that kidney you wanted and AIDS too." I realize black market could just mean paid for as the USA does not permit payment for organ donation. I also realize black market could mean removed from an unwilling donor. If I'm honest, when it comes down to life or death, it probably would not make a huge difference to me which it was.

Sure. The specific means of aquisition may beg consideration, but the state of merely being illegal is meaningless to me. Laws are other people's standards, not mine.

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
If it came right down to the survival of a loved one... yes. It wouldn't be my first choice, but I think anyone (or at least most people) would, if stuck in that situation.

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
I'd only buy human organs for the novelty... but I'd much prefer just to have my own appendix removed (useless as it is) and keep it in a container in my coat pocket. Then I can haul it out and slap people with it or throw it at them when they piss me off.
"OW! What the hell was that?"
"That was my APPENDIX, motherfucker!"
Maybe I'm just weird, but that sounds like the ultimate argument-stopper to me.

It's not useless, it's a incubator for needed bacterias. In case your system stays out of needed bacterias to sustain normal life from longer usage of antibiotics, appendix is there to revive that needed population of bacteria.
Our immune system it self is a alien of some sort. Over ages we adapted on each other in a symbiosis. It even has a different DNA code (or was it RNA for them and DNA for us, I don't remember).

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
No, but I would find a perfect match, stalk that person, then kidnap them, leaving their body in a seedy motel bathtub full of ice missing whatever organ(s) I or someone else is in need of.

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
But obviously, the appendix isn't necessary for lifelong survival, or it wouldn't become inflamed and removed as often as it is, and in many cases as early in life development. The human appendix is an evolutionary leftover from the days when it was more useful than it is now; when the filtration purpose it served was more of a necessity. I know personally many people who are continuing to live long and happy lives without their appendix (my father included).
Doctors would PREFER that their patients wait for it to become inflamed before performing a removal, but I don't imagine such a thing is a necessary prerequisite. Besides, my personal immune system works far too well as it is.

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
Reason it's being inflamed so much is because our diet changed drastically in last 100 years.

How does that NOT represent evolution pushing the appendix out of the category of "useful?"

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
YOUR argument (as I understood it): The appendix serves a very useful purpose.
MY argument: If that was the case, why are there so many people living long, full, comfortable lives without this oh-so-useful organ? Sure, it USED to be useful, but evolution is slowly rendering it completely null and void.

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
I gotta check more into it if you want me to comment on it.
I didn't say very useful. I just said that it isn't useless as you stated first time.
I still doubt that there might be a connection between lactose intolerance and some food allergies with removing of appendix. But that's just me and my thoughts.

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
I'd try many things before I even consider black market organs for many reasons.
What if you get them and they're not right match? You'll have hella hard time to explain any doctor what is going on.
What if the person who had organ last have some sort of disease?
How do you know it was removed properly?
There's just so many that could go wrong. I'd rather to do what Nathan would do before I even go for black market organs.

and the notion of buying a movie on the blackmarket or a fake gucci handbag or knock off brand jack rabbit vibrator is worse than buying an illegally harvested organ from someone is worse how?

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
I would have to be incredibly desperate. And who would I get to put the thing in for me? I would have to approach some doctor and be like here..I, uh, found this organ..will you do the operation? lol..plus Id be worried about getting HIV or something.
But I'd probably still do it for myself or a loved one if there was no other option.

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
fuck no............I'm not even sure I'd want a legal organ for free
-
Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
For my nephew, yes. I would be willing to give my own organ(s?) even if it meant my death if that were the only option. For my sister, too. The rest would be the determination of the family member or loved one.

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
When I was a kid the "Max Headroom" tv show had some punk rock organ thieves on it.
I always thought that that's what I'd grow up to be.
Driving around, harvesting people's organs... ah well.:(

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
For implantation or shits and giggles?
For the latter if I had that kind of spare cash I absolutely would buy one and probably leave it on my desk.
For implantation absolutely not. My chances of getting a matching organ would be way too slim.

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
I think it'd be cool to buy an organ that "fell off a truck". I'd show it off at parties and tell everyone how I got just a great deal!
-
Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
fuck it, i'd just die. too much effort. I don't even know how to get in contact with people who are selling shit on the black market. it's not exactly like buying weed.

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .

Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
what If you bought an organ in the black market to save the life of a loved one and later found out it was taken from another loved one who would be then in desperate need of a transplant? you would feel pretty silly wouldn't you?
-
Re: Would you illegally buy a black market human organ . . .
