hello hello. I tried to learn maya 7 but i couldnt figure it out lol. so ill stick with musick creation.. good to see another artist on board though!

Voldta, did you try to teach yourself or take a course or something? I'm originally self taught and I enjoyed it so I decided to go after it.
Try using 3DS Max. I don't have a lot of experience with Maya but I'm told the learning curve on Max is slightly smaller. If you search online there are plenty of really helpful free tutorials.
welcome! i'm studying economics / computer engineering... mostly database stuff.. i almost ended up as a 3D animator, but since i'm a coward i went with a less risky solution.. sort of regret it now -
Nah, I'm sure there are way more hot accountants than hot computer animators...at least from two schools I've attended anyway:doh:

yea i have books upon books of tutorials and files and everything for maya and 3dsm. i just never picked it up i guess.. never really had the fast computer to render it all nicely :)
plus waiting for 6 hours to render a ball just pissed me off :crash:
Yeah you need a fast rig if you're really going to get into it.
I recently rendered out a full 3d, 10 second promo for the sci-fi channel in 1920x1080 Hi-Def and it took about an hour and a half.

I've never used Cinema 4d. But the modeling in that picture you posted isn't that great, it's the texturing that makes it look so awesome and that's all Photoshop.
lol i go to the savannah college of art and design and 3d animation is my major, so huzzah and welcome. I use Maya myself -hugs her copy of maya

GreetingZ...seems we have more 3D animation junkies than I thought...I don't "officially" start taking classes for it till next year...but I've been tooling around with it for game mods since about 2000 or so.
Amy, your school was one of my first choices but I decided to head to NY instead. Wasted two years of my life up there (except for meeting my best friends and getting to travel the world, those were okay) and now I'm back in Philly again.
