Camera suggestions.
I'm getting a digital camera for my bday. Looking for suggestions in the $200.00 -$400.00 range. Not sure what to look for, always went old school 35mm want to switch to digital. Alright photographers help me out. Is everything in that price range going to be crap or can you suggest some makes and models that are pretty good?

Re: Camera suggestions.
Get a digital back for your 35mm ---- best of both worlds

Re: Camera suggestions.
I use all Canon cameras. You can find options they make in that range.

Re: Camera suggestions.
Fuji's Finepix range regularly scores highest for image quality and color accuracy. I've used them as well as Canon, Nikon and Sony and I prefer the combinations of features Fuji uses (their optical zooms are often wider and the manual control options are more detailed).
Browse through http://www.digitalcamera-hq.com/digital-cameras/ for an idea of what's out there in each budget range.
The biggest decision is SLR over fixed lens - digi SLR sounds great as you can swop lenses, but it suffers from a lot of problems too - most noticeably dust on the CCD. Fixed lens "SLR lookalikes" are often more than enough for pro-am users and as the inside is sealed there's no dust problem. You also get more tech for your buck as there's fewer lens-related components to pay for.

Re: Camera suggestions.
Ty for info and link guys... I've narrowed it down to either the Fuji Finepix S700 or the Canon Powershot A720 IS they actually seem pretty close...I've used canon before but curious about the Fuji and they are both very affordable which is great. Appreciate the help.

Also Fuji Finepix F50 FD looks nice too but like I said never used the Fuji products before. Decisions Decisions.
