    Default Baby bird rescue

So I totally saved this bird from becoming kitty snack lastnight....It was flopping around with a broken wing and my cat was playing with it...Bryan told me to let nature run it's course, but I just couldn't do it ...so now I have this baby bird, and I don't really know what to do..it looks like it's wing and possibly foot is broken.
he kinda looks like this..but hes a baby so it's kinda hard to tell
I put him in a box with a towel and fed him some wet down bread..he was all about it....Wtf now lol
    damn my good nature...

I know that when a bird eats. it has to get a little bit of dirt and gravel to eat along with its food because birds have a craw, not a stomach, and needs to dirt/gravel to assists its digestion

Bird wing repairing takes a lot of money, and will otherwise die without it.
OR, become completely dependent on your care. (If memory serves me correctly)

Even though there's a grim 'harmony' in nature, it is a painful rhythm of life, who's to say Bryan was wrong, I mean, other animals have to survive too, even at the fate of a mother bird's baby... it is SO Sad, but.... its also NOT something that's "treatable" and a fact of life that's able to "civilize"

... I do believe that how and where I was raised effects my perception.

I was raised in the WILDERNESS of the Appalachian mountains

When I was about 10, I found a baby pigeon and took it in. I called the closest pet store and they told be to buy "bird mash", water it down and then "Force-feed" it to the bird. I asked, "What do you mean "force-feed?" The pet store owner said you basically have to shove it down it's thoat. SOOOOO....I did so. The first tiny baby spoonful, it coughed a little but got it down. The next one, the poor baby bird choked to death. After that, I NEVER took in another one of God's creatures. I say leave it up to nature. God, I still, after all these years, feel so guilty about killing that bird.

Yeah, I hear what your saying Mr. Karl, but at 10 years old, being so innocent and all, it just wasn't a pleasant experience in the least.

Cats will do that ... especially if they're well fed.

    That is terribly sad.

When I got to FT Myers beach, I thought I was saving a jelly fish, after hurricaine Katrina ... by flinging it back into the ocean, just to have one completely wrap around my leg after getting into the water.

so i drove like an hour away to take it to the audobon society..was so happy to see them take the box in the back room, and promptly wrote a donation check..2 seconds later they come out and hand me the bird back,

apparently he's okay and they wont take an uninjured or non abandoned bird and since I can see it's nest but can't reach,
I had to take a box fill it with stuff and hang it from the tree under the nest.

Apparently birds have no sense of smell and a very strong maternal instinct, and supposedly within hours the mother should find the bird and care for it...the bird is still sitting in the diaper box in the tree outside.it's been 7 hours

The bird went with me everywhere today lol...we went to the bank and picked up my check..It already cost me like 20 in gas i was not about to drive an hour back to drop it off, and then have to go all the way back into town
I didnt ask for my check back....but I almost thought about it

You should call the humane society. They would probably be able to refer you to a bird rescue organization. It's not an area I've researched unfortunately.
