Love karaoke! Last one was at this redneck/yuppie hybrid camping park. They all have these fat 100K trailers and rvs + burly golf carts (no golf course) haha. Was interesting. There are several good nights out here in the cities. I would do it sober but it is generally just part of a night out so .... usually not.

different club. Those pics are from Sardo's in LA, whereas Johnny's jaw was splintered in a strip club in FL. The first pic was taken on the night when Hunter S. Thompson died, hence the black armband. The second pic was taken by the every loverly miss Amelia about 2 years prior. Johnny's jaw was at least three years prior, i think.

Ran karaoke for a while and sang a whole alot. There is what we call the 90/10 rule. 90% are too drunk to care and the other 10 won't care by middle of the night. Always help when you have some white zombie in the catalog too.

Moving on.... The best official karaoke I ever had was the last night of my trip to Europe a few years back. We (all 30+ of us) were in Amsterdamn and decided to go see a Cyprus Hill concert. It was fuckin' awesome. Afterwards we were looking for something to do and spotted a coffee shop that was doing karaoke and after each song they gave you a tape of your performance! Fuckin' A!

So I got my name on the list and enlisted my little brother and a few of my friends but didn't tell them what song we were going to be doing.

Then my hopes were dashed when the DJ said "Okay, we've got to close up soon, so for the last song I'm going to draw a name out of the hat."

But then fortune favored the brave indeed as my name was called and my intrepid band of drunken Americans took the stage, still not knowing what musical fate I had in store for them.

And then it happened.

No! It is the opening notes to Sir Vanilla Ice's magnum opus, Ice Ice Baby.

Yes. and sober. Only twice though, first time was in high school with a group of friends in the gym on a rainy day, so it was in front of half the school. We sang New Kids on the Block: Right Stuff, yea, we thought it was funny. Second time was at a Bachelorette Party, I had a couple drinks earlier, but I was pretty sober. She had all the girls come up and sing Walk Like An Egyptian.

I will never sing by karaoke by myself. I do sing often, not well enough to get up and belt out something in front of strangers, at least with other people around they can drown out my voice, haha!

Yeah, once at a company party. I was kinda drunk so that's why I did it, never would do it sober. My wife and her friends go all the time, there are ten story karaoke bars everywhere, even have one in our neighborhood. You get your own private room and food and drinks delivered to your room.

My japanese reading skills is not up to par so I kept messing up my lines. I guess I will have to memorize the songs I want to sing if I ever do it again.

SO, I sang "To Sir With Love", but the mic was turned down so low that no one really heard me....

The other time I sang a Blondie song, I think it was "Heart Of Glass"...

I don't think I would ever make it on American Idol, let's just put it that way... I'm better in punk or gothic/fetish bands wearing lots of eyeliner and corsets, etc...

Are you going to that place (I think by Dupont Circle) where it is all black outside and you have to walk up the black stairs and the karaoke part is at the far end but uber-loud and they always overcharge the fuck out of groups? Good sushi though if it is the one I am thinking of. Don't know why I can't think of the name or exact location. I actually stood in front of it briefly on my last visit.

It probably is by Dupont Circle, although I don't know the name either. I'm having visions of "Lost in Translation". As long as the sushi is good, I think I'll be fine
