Default What song was #1 on the day you were born.

    Have you ever done this?

Some people believe our lives are profoundly influenced by whatever pop song was #1 on the day we were born.

    My number #1's are:
'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon in the US
'Long Haired Lover From Liverpool' by Little Jimmy Osmond in the UK
'Ben' by Michael Jackson in Australia

    See which songs you get

That expression means "It's just not ok/fair". Being wronged, basically. Here, it's being used as a dumb pun.

The odd sports thing is the "song":

sure is - it's a spoof which relies on you knowing about well known (in Australia) sports commentators and identities. Probably doesn't translate well anywhere else and leaves me fairly cold even though I do get it. Maybe Mike Patton gets it? In any case when the Fantomas played here a couple of weeks ago they all wore cricket gear and got the audience to throw stuff at them which they attempted to hit back with cricket bats.

    My songs:
    UK: I'm A Believer - The Monkees
    US: I'm A Believer - The Monkees
AU: Snopy vs The Red Baron - Royal Guardsmen (that clearly should be "Snoopy" not "Snopy")

Life is becoming a constant reminder of my age - I do note that at least there are a very few on this thread who are beating me in that statistic though

MTV played their videos alot in the early 80's. I always thought they sucked.

I lived it. If it's popular "good" 80's music, I have no idea how you actually compiled 7 hrs. of it. I would say 2 hrs. of popular "good" music is stretching it.

Although my wife always did dig Duran Duran.

LOL. I never said it was "good"... I just said 80's. I may have been young, but my parents were teens in the 80s, so I grew up with it myself.

Surprised that Spandau Ballet seem to be a bit unknown by some folk... they are one of the more famous of the breed. I guess I grew up with them myself. Because I know everyone cares... the "highlights" of their songs for me are:
1980 - To Cut a Long Story Short - this quite a good syntho new-ro one imo
    1983 - Communication - pretty good
    - Gold - used to lampoon this one in later years by casting gold and silver sprinklies into the audience with a poetically flourishing guitar strum like on their film clip
    - True - A few memories of this as it was typically used as the slow last song at the suburban nightclubs I was sneaking into when I was 15 or so
1984 - Only when you leave - a bit too adult and mature but a nice jazzy type song although I don't really get into jazz particularly. it's probably not jazzy at all but I wouldn't know

Of course the only ones I might have heard are Womanizer (only on the radio, if that), and maybe So What, though I'd have to hear it to be sure. I was born in the wrong era.
