Recently I just mastered baking of all sorts of breads. I'm practicing cakes lately with my friend.

I just surprised my self in baking. Made baguettes with butter/garlic/parsley. Them alone were good enough

But of course I wouldn't be I if I didn't make all sorts of finger food besides it

I'm gonna take a tip from mystoo, and do sausage and peppers w/ pasta. I'm using yellow bell peps, sweet italian sausage, a little garlic, onion, and rigatoni pasta. should be good.

Tonight I ordered in...usually cook but sometimes you just have to let it go.

Punjabi Tandoor Chicken with basmati rice, vegetable pakora, nan bread and a helping of chicken satay to round it off.

    Tonight was my infamous Stuff-in-Pot.
Protein, cut into small pieces (tonight was steak and left-over pot roast)
    Starch (Noodles)
Frozen Vegetables (half bag each of corn and peas)
    Sauce/Gravy (Strogenoff)

This is REALLY good and easy. 15 minute meal, and awesome!

    Lidia's Italy

The beauty and delight of this dish is that it is so fresh and clean-and it is a cinch to make. It’s important to make the pesto with the best ingredients then just toss in the hot cooked spaghetti to coat it and enjoy.

¾ pound (about 2-1/2 cups) cherry tomatoes, very ripe and sweet
    12 large fresh basil leaves
1/3 cup of whole almonds, lightly toasted
1 plump garlic clove, crushed and peeled
1/4 teaspoon peperoncino or to taste
½ teaspoon coarse sea salt or kosher salt, or to taste, plus more for the pasta
    ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
    1 pound spaghetti
½ cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano or Grana Padano

    Recommended equipment:

    · A blender (my preference) or a food processor
    · A pot for cooking the spaghetti

Rinse the cherry tomatoes and pat them dry. Rinse the basil leaves and pat dry.

Drop the tomatoes into the blender jar or food processor bowl followed by the garlic clove, the almonds, basil leaves, peperoncino and ½ tsp salt. Blend for a minute or more to a fine purée; scrape down the bowl and blend again if any large bits or pieces have survived.

With the machine still running, pour in the olive oil in a steady stream, emulsifying the purée into a thick pesto. Taste and adjust seasoning. (If you’re going dress the pasta within a couple of hours, leave the pesto at room temperature. Refrigerate if for longer storage, up to 2 days, but let it return to room temperature before cooking the pasta.

To cook the spaghetti, heat 6 quarts of water, with 1 tablespoon salt, to the boil in the large pot. Scrape all the pesto into a big warm bowl.

Cook the spaghetti al dente, lift it from the cooking pot, drain briefly, and drop onto the pesto. Toss quickly to coat the spaghetti, sprinkle the cheese all over, and toss again. Serve immediately in warm bowls.

Anyway, she's talented when it comes to food so... I would love to share her special recipe for dolmas if you are willing to share your special recipe for a tomato pasta sauce you've been talking about

I might throw in my recipe for salmon, cherry tomatoes, white vine pasta recipe as a bonus.

The only person I know who cooks worse than my mom is her mom. Thank god I got my cooking skill from my dad's side.

Actually, minus the bacon, it's a Turducken. It's actually fairly popular in Cajun Country. Tasty as all hell, and not that unhealthy. Add bacon and oh, fuck, now I'm getting cravings.

My family is the exact opposite, or at least I am. We'd share the recipe if any of us knew it, I know basic ingrediants and just go from there. My measurement is the whole "some of this, some of that... taste... needs more this."

Exactly NB, that's why I'm guessing that my tomato sauce might taste even better than hers

And yes... where's the solidarity VB? Not even sharing it with your family.

there isn't a recipe. I measure all of it by sight. I couldn't give anyone a recipe if I wanted to. as for my family, the only person that really wants it is my brother, and while I still love him he's a dick, so I won't give it to him, but I'd give it to him before I gave it to someone I don't even know online. if your like to insult my character, than by all means, go right ahead. but you you should know what you're talking about before you talk shit, and you don't know shit about me.

Right on, I love that Lidia. I'm pretty into pestos right now. I'm glad some Italians will spill the beans! or else I'd be eating 'Prego'. Pestos are the best summer sauces. So chill and tasty. I had always made basil pestos untill about a year ago but now I into making arugala pesto and parsley pesto. I'm learing the tricks. So good!.

arugula is awesome. I'm working on a thyme pesto right now. I don't know what nut I feel is better its good with both pine nuts and almonds, but I like peccorino with it instead of grana or regiano.
