I'm restarting The Gunslinger by King. I too read multiple books at once, I can never get just one.

I just finished the Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. A fun, fast read and surprisingly well thought out story and characters, especially for a fantasy novel.I recommend it if you like darker fantasy.

My book club is currently reading The Affair of the Poisons: Murder, Infanticide, and Satanism at the Court of Louis XIV. We take turns hosting and this time it is my turn. I'm really going to try not to give into the temptation to do it themed and poison everyone, as I really do like them.

Currently I found an old book on original tattoo work from ancient Japanese tattoo work. It's a really neat and old book. Definitely is interesting, inspirational and is beautifully illustrated with ancient tattoo designs and techniques

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. It's a book about two of the Hamlet characters. Pretty funny, actually. Gets into some basic mind game stuff and geriatrics philosophy.

Simon Yeo - Student of Bujinkan Ninjutsu
One exception: Martin Esslin - Theatre of the Absurd.

some heavy sociological stuff ( but I don't mean to bore You with it) and for fun: Rolf Toman Die Kunst der Gothic (I have translated edition, I believe this is the original German title),Ben Elton The First Casuality ( war time novel) and Frederick Forsyth The Fourth Protocole ( sentimental reading, I like this one) and from time to time a very interesting album on some collectibles The Complete Encyclopedia of Knives by Hartink ( recent purchase)

I love Your sense of humor ;-) Looks like You really know how to entertain Yourself.
Well, all I can say: life is all about emotions, looks like Your utility bills make You feel alive in every sense of the word.
As some zen masters would say: Hardship? Say "thank You" for it, be grateful for everything that has happened to You.
I almost regret not having on my hands any bills of my own to read at the moment
Sounds like it could be one hell of a reading
As for Your post: it has just became my quote of the day

Really? This one was the ultimate form of boredom to me.
I know romantic reading may have it's appeal sometimes but this one really made me yawn
Not to mention that movie based on it was even more boring than the book itself
Even thinking about the time when I was reading this book makes me almost feel sorry for You
I really hope You are enjoying this reading in Your own way somehow
I wouldn't read it again myself even if someone would offer to pay me for it.

Sounds like we may have something in common in this regard, Dear Miss Borgia ;-)
If You ever want to learn more about the topic, just ask.
As for poisons, You may always try being a witch who specializes in poisons in some on line RPG .
Harmless for people but based on in-depth knowledge of the topic and lots of fun.
I know some girls who are having fun on the net in this way.

Great punchline ;-) I don't know MG yet but his reading list sounds to me like something that a vocalist of London After Midnight could be reading.
Maybe guys should hook up together?

I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. I read the other six when I was younger, but never got around to reading the last one. My lady friend told me to borrow the book so I could see what happens and what is different in the movie. It's pretty good so far. Way more adult than the other ones. It also inspired me to work on a young adult novel of my own. I already laid down the foundation.

Then I will be reading The Norton Anthology of English Literature, Volume 1 in preparation for the GREs in August. That's a 3000 page book, after which I will read the equally long Volume 2.

The Four Witnesses, an interesting and scholarly book pointing out and analyzing the four perspectives of the historical Jesus in the Gospels based on the points of view of their authors. One saw him as a prophet, another a teacher, another a mystic. Interesting and full of info about the different facets of the society of its time.

hmm. I thought there was another thread on this... oh,well. here it goes.

Just finished Harry Potter & Everyone You Like Dies Except For The Really Whiny Characters. I am still waiting to see the film adaptation titled Harry Potter & The Film That Shouldn't Have Been Split Into Two Parts Because Nothing Really Happens Anyway.

Also finished This Is The Zodiac Speaking: Into the Mind of A Serial Killer by Michael Kelleher and David Van Nuys. Forget about the book by Robert Graysmith that is the basis for the David Fincher film. This is the only book to read on the subject (or at least the best one to start off with.)

I'm currently reading Vampires, Burial and Death: Folklore and Reality by Paul Barber. As the title suggests it separates fiction from folklore in regards to the vampire, an umbrella term used here for the undead of a variety of cultures. More than the supernatural mythology it focuses on how those cultures viewed the dying and the dead and their associated rituals, customs and taboos.

Also, you should check out the book Labyrinth 13, which covers both those two above topics and can be downloaded from the site. The author is a good guy.

Story the Soldiers wouldn't tell: Sex in the Civil War

Interesting read I'd gather. Apparently includes an interesting anecdote about some soldiers returning. Some women were drawn by the sounds of music and general humanity, and eventually ended up naked from the waist down, servicing dozens of men each. Makes you look at Great-Great Grandma in a far, far more different light. (Well not mine, she was English)

Right now I'm reading a book called "Time: The Semi-Final Frontier", which is the third book in a series about a gunslinger that travels through time on a train. He ends up in Deep Space on a space ship in the middle of a Interstellar War.
I intend follow up by reading a Star Wars book called "Death Troopers", which is a Zombie themed story.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I know, I'm so behind the times. I just saw the movie a few weeks ago and was really impressed, and my partner's mom happened to own the books, so I'm going through those right now. I hear they're much better than the movie so I'm pretty excited.

I'm also working my way through the Lord of the Rings again. I like to re-read them every year, because I'm a giant nerd and I'm kind of obsessed with it.

I just finished reading that Sierras. It bored the absolute shit out of me for the 1st 350 pages. The 2nd one is pretty interesting right from the start. I'm gonna wait until I'm done the books before I see any movies. On a side note, I don't think I like Trent Reznors and Karen O's cover of the Immigrant Song.
