I'm not sure that I consider the new colors an improvement, either. No big difference though.

Also, the 'Thanks' function needs some clarification. Right now it just puts your name in a blank box under a post, which fails to communicate pretty much anything. Usually it says something like "The following users have thanked XXX for this useful post:".
