The Devil movie opens tonight. It is being marketed as being with M. Night Shyamalan's touch. WGA credits him for the story, but lists a Brian Nelson as the screenwriter. Apparently, M. Night Shyamalan is producing a series of films he is writing but not directing. I expect this will allow him to be more prolific. The director, according to the press kit, is John Erick Dowdle, who also directed

    Got it. Good plan.

Cause and effect; natural mechanics. The poster's a nice design though, even if the middle-letter-replaced-with-symbol thing is dreadfully overdone these days.

    M. Night Shyamalan sucks.
I agree that 6th Sense was good, but he went downhill from there.

Well, not entirely real. Isn't she like, 80% plastic?

Plastic is real. It's really plastic.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he exists.

That said, M. Knight Theater 3000 has a descending track record. If I hear enough good things I may catch this on DvD, but after the las couple of his films I watched... someone else has to take that first bullet for me now.

You say Hail Satan over and over, You spill the blood and the bastard never shows... screw him he's dead to me.

But Joan, she is eternal, not biodegradable.

Her body parts will be around for eons! They may not be naturally hers, but she owns them.

i believe that little mistakes happen (the stuff with minor consequences, like being a few minutes late) happens so as to avoid what would otherwise be perfect timing for a major accident. natural balance, cause and effect, timing - these things i can believe in, these things i can count on, study and make percentage chance predictions on the out come. Satan has never once turned up when i needed him to, in many ways he's just as reliable as his counterpart, and nearly as believable. besides the worst evil in heaven or on earth is that seeded in the minds and hearts of those who believe they are doing "the right thing"

Lordy. M. Knight Shyamalamer had one clever idea with "I see dead people" and then he was empty. 'Indestructible' was a half-hour Twilight Zone plot stretched like taffy (dull tedious taffy) into an interminable full length movie. It's all been downhill from there and you can't pay me enough to go see anything that has his name on it. I read the reviews still, just to see if he's figured out that aping plot structure from 19th century short story writer O. Henry does *not* make him a genius, but there's no sign that it's dawned on him yet.

I saw the trailer for 'Devil' when I was at an actual good movie, 'Inception'. It looked interesting until I saw Shyamalan's name, and then I knew I'd already seen the best parts already. The only reason to go see an M. Knight Shyamalan movie is if you *like* being disappointed.

True nothing like a zelot. But for myself I once threw away my concepts of good and evil. I adopted an animalistic approach and played in the grey, which allowed me to do some devilish things. It may be antiquated but evil can be fun. if I were capable of not being empathetic and I didn't feel the boomarang of karma, I'd still be there.

But in the present these things do not exist; there is no evil, there is only sick people.

I like M. Night's movies. You gotta take them for what they are.

The only thing he did that I didn't like was Signs, but that's mostly because it had too many dumb plot elements thrown in. It could have been saved with some editing.

I used to be a very harsh judge of movies, but I've realized that the reason many movies suck is not bad directing (that is if directing is the problem. Bad writing and acting are harder to get around.) but because of good directing. Too much good directing in fact that they never want to let anything go, when the movie would actually be much better without it. They don't realize that simpler is better. In that way there is a lot of merit in movies if you can just dismiss and forgive some of the bad timing and unnecessary scenes.

I like the Village and can't understand why people didn't like it. The Happening was not great, but taken for what it was meant to be- a homage to 1950's paranoia sci-fi- it was enjoyable.

I also really liked Avatar: The Last Air Bender and thought it was hilarious that the man in his 30's sitting behind me was furious at the film ("fuck this shit!", he cried.") for not being accurate enough to the children's cartoon show.

I don't believe in the devil. To me, it's a fictitious character.
