Szandora's website is awesome, and is in the banner list on the top right of the link areas ever several refreshes.

I love when her hair is dyed Blue, Pink, Purple, Green, or any other color . She can pull off any type of style she wants to.

Most of the banner links above will take you to the sites of many interesting models...plus a handful post on these boards every so often so you may want check their sites as well.

It's much more interesting that way no? It's like discovering something as opposed to a lifeless URL post.

That is debated a lot, and many people differ in views.

I think it is attitude, values, and personality more than the other stuff, but the clothes still look awesome!*

True. It has been for 25 years in terms of the movement coming out of London.

Agree. I guess I am a bit "old school", I tend to still think of it more as it was back then.

I like spooky cool people that can put on their eyeliner correctly, but I'm not trying to shoot some BS archiatype. I like cool people. Some of them like to rock a gothic look from time to time, but I'm not interested in forcing anyone into any sort of specific mold. You know what I mean?

Thing that keeps my skeptic when it comes to clicking the banner links is that (to me) there is a diffirence between porn & modeling. yea they are hand in hand, but I prefer to see porn on DVD, not motionless pictures. modeling tends to also carry alot more class & artistic direction. (not critisizing porn, because I love it too)

Well I clicked the dragon jewelry link. they have some cool stuff. any specific banners I should click. the title "gothic sluts" doesn't lead me to believe it will only be modeling.

I wrote a long thing in my editorial for SWAG about my feelings about the word class. Maybe I will post it here for folks who didn't see the print magazine to read.

I won't get this thread totally off track by going on and on, but GothicSluts.com was initially launched for a few reasons.

    (1) A photographer I know, like, and respect who had a membership site for his black and white fetish photography told me that he thought Forrest and I should do a pay site. I felt that his work was offbeat enough that, if he thought I could do it, then I could do it and be true to my artistic vision.

    (2) We could only publish so much of our true vision in print ourselves and other publishers tended to want more mainstream work than we wanted to create.

    (3) A magazine which paid a lot and had specifically solicited work from me and Forrest rejected a submission saying it was "too pretty" and "too elegant."

I detest the word porn almost as much as I detest the word class, although for opposite reasons. Class indicates prejudice. Like, if someone's parents were not rich, then their accomplishments do not count and they can't join the country club. Porn on the other hand means nothing. The Supreme Court of these fine United States could not even define it, just said they knew it when they saw it. Porn is what you like. Erotica is what I like.

Blue Blood girls are wonderful and multitalented and just plain cool. Anyone who is too gothic to get the punk rock and feminist appeal of reclaiming the terminology slut is perhaps a bit too one dimensional for the Blue Blood philosophy. I do not mean to offend, but I'm not about to stand by and listen to my amazing girls (and guys) be talked smack about. Unlike some sites, I am not about to ban someone for having an opinion I do not agree with, but I gotta tell you that no one who is insulting the Blue Blood girls is likely to be very popular here. But I realize that sometimes the way people learn about things is by asking about them and I hope my background info and explanations have helped.

Lastly, I suspect that Blue Blood girls fit any definition of model better than the girls on any other niche site on the net, so anyone who wants to take a stab at defining the term model, please go ahead.

A model besides myself....even though I don't think too highly of myself. There are so many great models out there that are wickedly beautiful and artistic in their own way. I can't really choose one, but I really admire
    Dana Dark
    SheDevilVixen
    Mistress Cleo Le Vamp
    Eden Prosper
    Messy Stench
    Bitch In Black/Miranda Adira
    Darenzia
    Feisty Diva
    Morgana
    Lady Angellyca

I must admit though, we need more hot male models. My favorite "model" would have to be John Koviak he modeled for Propaganda for a long time in the 80's.

Oh hell yeah, those photos of John Koviak were some of the original inspiration for Blue Blood in print. I photographed a girl John was dating years ago, but he was too traumatized by his past experiences modeling to do any more of it at the time. I think Forrest talked to him recently at a nightclub actually. Not about modeling or anything, but he is still around. I liked Subversion too. You ever listen to it?

Okay lets be realistic at the same time, I can understand the justified use of the word sluts, espeshily one involving punk looks. however the rest of the internet associates the word as a demeaning classification. doesn't sound so great if one were to say GothicWhores instead of GothicSluts now does it. (yet by book definition they mean the same thing) & it should be understandable if someone were to mistake the word sluts, for meaning whores instead of its retrospective aspect. (doesn't the blue blood philosophy involve atleast accept diffirence in thinking, if not the desire to understand?

I didn't say anything negative at all. obviously I wouldn't have made this post if I wasn't intrested in knowing more & think what they do is fantastic. I think that you may have tooken offense to me misunderstanding the way the word sluts was used. If so, I apologise. that wasn't my intention at all.

Good, that means unlike some other sites. I'll expekt a response rather then a notice saying "you are not allowed to perform this action" next time I login. Once again, I don't see how I insulted anyone unless it was by my interpritation of a certian word.

A model (IMO) is anyone who poses to demonstrate something* infront of a media*.

*something could be a type of clothing, lifestyle, design, artisitic creation, anything realy

*media could be a camera lense, a walkway, a gathering of fans, anything that captures the moment & is seen by others (then the model themself)

I define slut on the from page of GothicSluts.com as follows:

What is a slut: 1. pleasure enthusiast; 2. a wanton individual; 3. a saucy girl

But on a more personal note:

I once got reprimanded at a stagehand job because I was wearing a homemade shirt which said, "I'm a slut. I kill what I eat." Steve Albini afficionados in the house will get the obscure reference, but wow was the production supervisor unamused. I think I probably got a free T-shirt out of it at the time

To me the word slut is something that other people like to use to control a woman who owns her sexuality. I think I got called a slut for the first time when I was twelve and had never been on a date, never had a real kiss with a boy, never had a real kiss with a girl. I did, however, have jeans with little gold stars on each back pocket and I looked good in them, was just learning to dress attractively and there were girls who liked it much better when I looked like a bookworm. Less competition that way I guess.

I own my body. I own my sexuality. And I decide very selectively who I share any portion of those parts of me with. I make those decisions based on how I feel and how the participants feel and not based on societal rules about how nice girls behave. And I wear what I want to wear.

I am a woman and I am a sexual being and that means that there are plenty of people who would like to control, not only what I do, but how I feel and what I think by telling me I'm a slut if blah blah blah. Well, guess what, I'm a slut. I reclaim that terminology. I make it mine. I reclaim it for the wild, crazy, sexy girls everywhere who don't feel like being forced to fit a cookie cutter mold.

Just a short list since I'm actually supposed to be writing. There's a ton more that I just can't think of at the moment.

This I really gotta agree with and voice a bit on. What I've always found a bit lacking is the structure some niche and now not so niche sites have when talking about their models or "girls". Many of them have maybe a few sets or only work for that one site. That's all well and good...but when the whole amatuer thing took off ANYONE who had a set or two under their belt was a model...now no offense but any idiot can stand in front of a camera and take directions...I should know...I had to do it for years (long boring story)...prime example...

Look at any set Scar has done...and look at most sets from say a lil site that has gained popularity for their image and style that I've come to learn was less than honorably earned. If you can guess what the site is lets just say the "act of killing ones self" is in the title.

You'll see a major diffrence in the way say Scar reacts to the camera and any one of the nameless beauties that THINK they are modeling when in reality they are smiling like they are getting their prom photo shot. Now I'll be fair and say not ALL act that way...but many do and I wouldn't call em models just like I wouldn't call any amatuer a pro.

This stark diffrence has been lost on many and the term model is thrown around to anyone who has more than 1 picture online that happens to be a posed shot.

What I've always liked about the Blue Blood Gals is that they react to the camera in a way that you see their personality and soul without it dominating the image...it merges with Amelia's and Forrests artistic vision in stunning ways.

reaction and awareness are traits few have when in front of a camera and the blueblood girls have it in spades...to me THAT's a model...not the pretty girls who copy poses they've seen or take orders like a robot. All they do is take an pretty picture...nothing more than that...i wouldn't say it's "not art" but I wouldn't put it on the same level as the work on the blue blood sites.

Hell lets face it...most the amatuer stuff out lacks even simple artistic vision...it all looks so interchangable that the images and models may very well be the same.

Koviak still looks great too. I actually did a search for him after finding this site. You might be interested in a movement known as "ethical sluts" which is really cool and all about people laying claim to their sexuality. I could not define the word model but would never confine it to a gothic aesthetic. I think, in fairness, some newer people might not understand a term like gothicsluts in the way it was intended.

To get back to the original intent:

I like sinisher tho all the blue blood models have a special flare to them. Morgana from the spooky hotties, among several others, definitely have promise. There are a lot of great looks out there. Naturally, John Koviak is and will remain the goth boy toy extraordinaire.

There is (or was anyway) even a knock-off store in London called Retail Slut. I remember the Peter and Yolanda were less than pleased about that copycat.

Amelia and I did do a fun shoot a while back with Yolanda posing as a somewhat naked manaquin in the Retail Slut display window after the store closed. Stopped traffic on Melrose. That was silly and fun. We should dig up those pictures sometime. She's awesome.
