    Default Types of Spam

What are your opinions about different types of spam? Obviously there is the type where people selling misspelled Viagra send you email, but there is also the type where people can't have a conversation in a journal or on a board without constantly mentioning some product to the point where you just have to suspect they are being paid to spam a particular band or detergent or whatever.

Which is worse? Obvious spam sent to your email? Or subtle spam which inserts itself into your daily digital human interactions in other areas such as message boards or blogs?

I'd say email spam. it takes up limited space & is never of intrest. sometimes however message board spam can be relevant. alot of times message board spam consists of nothing more then people trying to share their creations or something that they realy like. it isn't that hard to ignore if you realy want to that bad. just don't click the link. (you can always hold the mouse over the link for a second & it allows you to preview the thread beforehand) online journal spam is rather annoying. it clutters things & is always pointless like the email spam. (even if it was intresting, only a fool would trust the links they provide)

I hate the fake shills, the names you've never heard before, suddenly singing the sound bite bullet point praises of some bullshit cheap ass derivative product in all sorts of public or even private forums. Oh yeah, my favorite blah blah blah... No, I swear I'm not on payrol for that company, I don't clock in for a PR firm in the morning, I'm a fan, I'm a street team member, I'm a pawn, oh wait, I'm not even real at all...

I can filter email spam to the trash, but it might be a while before we have the tech to filter out fake people full of shit.... but you know that's how I feel Amelia.

I can delete junk email spam...I can't however avoid or delete the stuff people love to pimp out for whatever reasons they have...It's much more annoying and insulting to see threads and topics that are just long commercials...the most devious are when you have responses from people praising said product who are in on the pitch...sure can ruin some fun times.

That said...GO BUY ONE OF THOSE SINGING FISH YOU PUT ON THE WALLS...they are totally coooooooooooooooooooool.....just cause I get a cut of the profits does not in any way taint my opinion of the product. A home is not complete without a singing fish.

I actually like spam because it is usually something about some club or some magazine that I like. I hate the way my e-mail puts everything in the junk mail section, even people in my address book end up in junk mail. I keep my junk mail on low so that I won't miss any e-mails from my friends.

And I always read fan mail from my website. We get really nice fans and I always answer the e-mails.

I regularly move my accounts around (having my own domain I can do that) when the spam gets too much to handle. I dislike all kinds of spamming, no matter where it is. Even spamming through films in the cinema is off putting.

Smacks self on forehead. I actually clicked on that. I want to know what the product placement deal was that those things ended up on both CSI and The Sopranos one season.

Spam has forced to change several email addresses, it royally sucks. I'm too used to a and r shills parading around the Bay Area to care about the second. It is funny that it even happens.

Email spam sucks. I get at least 200 a day, and I have a pretty good blocker.

I am guilty of shameless self promotion. So I will just blush and look at my shoes now.

i couldn't understand why i kept getting tons of spam, until i stopped using Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. one last change of the email address, including ".invalid" in my replyto, and i haven't had a single piece of spam since.

In the past few months, the spam has been non stop almost!*
On a side note: CNN said that most spam in the world comes from Boca Raton, florida. I dont know how true that is though.**

Message board spam is the worst IMO. I can filter out most of it in my email, but not on a board.

I don't mind a little message board spam

What I hate is if the only time a person posts on a message board is when they are spamming.
