how many people have read the comic book series the sandman in here?

do you think it;s better than death or is death better than the sandman?

I read it as it came out and in collected form recently...nothing has come close to matching it. The near endless spin offs have all missed the mark in terms of tone, style, and atmosphere. It's too much of creators wanting to write like Gaiman and not enough trying to make something as creative. The only other major series to really shine from Vertigo with such a bright light was Preacher.

Death as a character...quite good and interesting. Though to do it today would be impossible since she would come off as a cliche'. Death as a series...hit and miss. The Death: The High Cost of Living is still the best all these years later. I lost interest in any of her later mini-series or apperances though. Plus once she was on T-shirts so heavily she lost some of that charm.

Still one of the best comic book characters ever created though.

I read it, and followed it avidly, and I thing that I have to say I hold it in higher regards than death. I was never as big a fan of Death, mostly due to a lack of funding, but I happened to run into some money right before every release or sandman... coincidence? I think not.

yeah, death was too cheery. I liked dream, he was pissed off and anti-social.

I heard they had plans to make a sandman movie, when comic book movies started becoming the It thing in hollywood. oh well, Warner bros owns the rights to it anyways.
