I perused a book called "take the rich off welfare". I might put it down on my reading list, and interesting chapter was about how the military continually upgrades it's weapons despite the fact that they aren't needed and are allready far advanced then any other countries because the companies that build them and subsequently supply a huge portion of tax dollars to the defense industry want to stay in business and keep selling them.

Currently reading the last Dune book in the prequil trilogy to the original trilogy. Pretty good.

Also, my favorite books are: Death of the Necromancer (Martha Wells), anything by Martha Wells (seriously, everything she's written is gorgeous), Violine (by Anne Rice), and Servant of the Bones, also by Anne Rice.

Choke - Palahniuk - sick... so close to some people's reality, even though they won't admit it...
Freakonomics - Levitt - this one is awesome - ya gotta read the part about why crack dealers still live with their moms...

I just finished "Revelation" by L. Christian Balling.
Started on the Silmarillion again by Tolkien.
And I need to get my copies of the Necronomicon and Kama Sutra back from my friend.

    Richard Morgan.
he has four books out so far, one trilogy:

    Altered Carbon,
    Broken Angels and
    Woken Furies,
    plus one stand alone:
    Market Forces.

all excellent books. war, crime, suspense, horror, sex and immortality in largely coherent science fiction settings; bang up to date Tech Noir and well worth the time.

    also:
Microsoft C++ in Easy Steps, because i don't have enough mindless teduim in my life.

I'm mostly finished with the anthology and it's been fabulous. I'm gaining a better understanding of slipstream fiction.

I just started readingSilk by Caitlin R Kiernan I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Her writing is very textural.

I think after I round up my trades for the used book store I might pick up another anthology or two.

Aside from that I'm reading quite a few lit magazines both on and offline. I just picked myself up a new copy of Poets and Writers magazines. I hadn't picked one up in awhile and am savoring it.

I've been obsessively reading some magazines I plan on submitting to. Just have to pick the right things. Not to mention do a shitload of editing that I've been neglecting because I'm lazy and sometimes reading my own writing annoys me.

    And that's all.

anyone ever read any books by hermann hess? he seemed pretty good.
but he was praised by arthur shoepenhauer, which kind of turned me off. that guy is an idiot. but then again, I think he might have said that J.S. Mill is a dickhead, so that's pretty cool. I don't know...
