Former stripper wins Nev. judge election

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Ex-stripper Diana Hampton will soon have something new to wear — judicial robes.
Hampton was elected to the Municipal Court in Henderson on Tuesday, defeating Michael Miller in a run-off by 176 votes.

Hampton, 39, had acknowledged during the campaign that she worked at a Las Vegas striptease club to help pay her way through college 14 years ago.

She called it "a fact of life" and said she hoped the interest it drew to her candidacy would eventually die down.

She was elected to a six-year term.

I allways thought that stripping your way through college was a myth.

Nah, parents paying for college is a myth. I hope she kicks ass as a judge, we definately need more people in power that had to work to get there.

What she did legally in her past should have little relevance, considering she's apparently fully qualified. In a place like Nevada, there's only so many things a girl can do that makes enough to pay for a tuition and I wish her the best.

You wouldn't believe how many of those "nice" guys did some serious stuff earlier in their life, and some of them are still up to it.
From my own experience doctors are craziest around.

Sorry to interject into the parental drug use tangent, but I was going to comment that a lot of girls get into stripping, thinking that it will be a good way to make some money, to pay for college. But if they are good at it, and good-looking, they end up making 6 figures plus, and end up deciding that school is not looking that exciting after all. Since they are making so much money, why would they quit? So they end up just being strippers, until the money runs out, or until their looks run out, or they just get sick of it. But I think it's pretty rare for a girl to actually be stripping, and going to school at the same time. I'm sure it happens, but more often than not, the girls get hooked on the money.

YEAH FOR STRIPPERS! Do you remember when that porn star in cali ran for mayor/governor (I think)...Mary Carey? LOL

Don't get me into talking about stripping...Yes, girls do it for money. Most pay their way through school. 90% of them don't like it (from the ones that I know). 95% hate men (from the ones I know). And most of them here do NOT MAKE 6 figures. The ones in bigger states like Cali, DC, etc (where they go all nude) DO make alot of money. But a strippers life span is short. You can only do it for a few years and then most gals get burned out. Most of the ones I know are addicts so they make the money then spend it on Cocaine or Pot or Heroin and blow it all.
But alot of the ones I know are full time in college and stripping on the side for money.

I've danced off and on for a few years (since I was 18, actually)
    Some truths about dancing-
    1. 6 figures? in Las Vegas, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, etc or in nude vs. topless? HAHA- I wish.
Especially not true if you're all tatted up. If I make $100 on a saturday night, I do a happy dance home, but there's alot of nights where, after paying my fees to work, I actually lose money.
I hear alot of customers say things like "Well, you're really hot and all, but those tattoos look trashy." And this is their reason for not tipping/buying a dance.
    2. Hate men? No... I don't hate men.. but I hate being hit on all the time. Yelling at me from your car is an easy way to get flipped off and screamed at, but if you have a fetish for that, then it's all good!
    3. The drugs? I'm one of maybe 2 girls I've known at assorted clubs over the past 3 years doing this that has done her shift 100% sober (no booze, coke, weed, speed, etc...) most of them are alcoholics or on alot of coke. Not saying I'm completely sober, but there's a time and a place, as well as limitations to how much you do when it comes to drugs. And I'm not climbing 20 feet up a skinny brass pole and hanging upside down while I'm loaded unless i want a gaping head wound :P

I need to learn to do burlesque, or find a troupe that considers mad pole dance skills to be a good thing... or else no more dancing... i like modeling better

it's not like a stripper doesn't know the difference between right and wrong.

Your truths are definately truths. Where I am, people HATE tats. Same thing. I wonder if Cali or NY would be different. I almost got sent to japan, but then the booker saw my tats and thought that they would think I was part of the Yakuza..which is fuckin COOL with me, but for her, she didn't think the club would like it.

I love burlesque. I want to learn to do it to. I think that Josie Nutter is in a burlesque troop somewhere, maybe you should contact her. Maybe we could create a 'blueblood burlesque troop' and tour the country
I love the pole, too. Got one in my house. Everytime people visit they look at me like I am crazy, but man, that is one hell, HELL Of a workout for the arms.
