    Default Conflicting Views

Ever had someone you were really close to and so trusted their wisdom to the most part without question? If you don't I do,she'll remain nameless, but she's like a second mother to me. She gives me advice and I'll take it, she a smart woman. You're probably wondering where I'm going with this. Well earlier (before my power went out and erased the first and much more eloquently stated version of this post) I was talking with this friend and decided to share my love of these forums, of course everything goes down the toilet at this point. Can thins never be easy for me? To summarise the convo went somewhat along the lines of this:

[02:41] them: *blinks* blue blood forums?
    [02:42] me: yup, fun place
[02:42] me: found it through DA
[02:45] them: ok.. because the only place I know called blue blood is an counter culture porn mag/website thing
    [02:45] me: heh heh ...yeah
[02:46] them: oh you have got to be kidding
[02:47] them: tell me you have better taste than that

So yes she did not approve in the least, and went on a long rant of why too. Not because of the content of the site itself, apparently but because of certain people who exist on these forums, again to remain nameless. Of course I figure these certain people are 1 or 2 people she has reasons fror disliking so I can't abandon the whole forum because of it, but jeeze this happens every time with someone or the other i swear and it's sort of like when you have two groups of friends that don't get on, you love them both but there's always that awkward feel because one wants to have nothing to do with the other. which of course has happened to me on several occasions because of my wide variety of friends.
For example I have certain friends who don't like my friends with differeng religous backgrounds (which I find quite silly)
Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences, be it over friends or maybe even things you're into.

lol i never follow the flock believe me, it's just for the most part this person gives good advice, we just seem to have some very differing views in some areas. Her whole beef is she knows my propensity to meet and befriend people and didn't want me hooking up with these ones. Like i said, she's my other mother and somewhat protective of me.

hehe tat's basically what I have to do, I simply won't be mentioneing the forums to her any more. I definately have no intentions of leaving. I love the people here ^-^. Plus when I get advice about people I've already somehwat befriended I tend to wait to see if they really fuck me over anyway. I like to give people the chance, I could never base judjement on someone soley because of another person's views. I truly think I am mentally incapable of doing it.

You should do what you think you should do, not what she tells you.

If you agree with her for your own reasons, then thats good, but make sure the reasons are your own.

lol she's not my real mother and I'd never be so rude as to say that to a woman I very much care about.

If this is someone you know in real life, sometimes our loved ones don't share all our tastes and we can look beyond that to the whole person anyway because we connect in some places. Love them anyway. You don't have to agree on everything.

If this is someone you only know digitally, be really wary of anyone who was overly momlike in the digital realm. In my experience, people who are overly momlike online are more into the powertrip of manipulating others than they are into genuinely mothering them.

One of my big initial motivations for founding Blue Blood in print was that I believed that there were a lot of people like me with interests which were varied but actually did fit together. But I know there were people who loved the entertainment section of Blue Blood magazine but were uncomfortable with the adult content portions of it. That is why we keep the naughty and non-naughty parts of Blue Blood more separate from one another online. This way people with common interests can participate whether or not they are into the naughty parts.

Forrest Black and I do our best to keep the vibe here a positive community where people with varied perspectives and life experiences can share viewpoints and both goof around and discuss ideas at a higher level than is possible on most internet forums. If anyone's post ever really bothers you, please always feel free to click on the little clear skull next to it to report it. It probably won't get deleted, but the person posting will be asked to play nice. Most people will be cool if asked.

I've run into a few who have not found this place their cup of tea or some members that are not all that "interesting" to put it nicely. That's bound to happen though given that in terms of the "regulars"...it's a small group. Still in that group you have enough varied opinion that it keeps things from looking and sounding all the same. For some more deeply involved with Blue Blood I think it's been a surprise of what kind of people are fans of what Blue Blood produces and in the case of some models...what kind of fans they have.

The stereotype maybe some were expecting (I say that in a good way mind you) is not an accurate guage once you look at the diffrent personalities of it's members. Some of us mix better with some than others but over all things are pretty civil...

Look at any other board and you will see something dedicated to flame wars that erupt...cause for some odd reason people thing arguments on forums matter. Dissagreements here at least get backed up by why...not so much to prove one is right but out of respect for others members who deserve to at least have an idea of where one is coming from in ones statements.

Plus being a little over a year old has much to do with how members act...I think some are only NOW becoming more comfortable and moving past the more combative nature associated with forums...I think that will lead to even more interesting discussions to be honest.

If a person judges an entire community based on two members...well then that says a bit about how they judge a situation. I wouldn't dismiss them by any means but I would think twice about their opinions on certain topics.

I love alot of the longer members (and some newer members that Ive seen too, not leaving you out) but when you are part of a community, even if its online, for long enough you kinda tend to disagree at one point...but the reason I love the BB board so much is everyone usually respects one another and seems like a little family. Sure, tempers flare, deep emotions become involved on certain subjects, but I like to think we are all openminded enough to know that different people have different walks of life, and different perceptions. We all share our bad days, life happenings, etc. because we know that when it comes down to it, you feel like you almost have known some posters for years and they will share your happiness or whathaveyou. I, like you, usually befriend people and am known to forgive and forget...unless actions repeat themselves. If someone has a problem with certain people, they should be mature enough (or open enough) to try and right that situation. Miscommunication runs rampant in the world of the internet, and it can leave hurt feelings and anger. I think its wrong to base a whole community on two people, its like saying all Texans are rednecks;p

In print, the magazine had one of those naughty advisory music album style labels which said "COUNTERCULTURE EROTICA EXPLICIT LYRICS" on it, so I certainly wouldn't be insulted by it.
