The lazy basterds that remake the movies are the lazy ones that can't think of new ideas so they have to take the old ones and re-make them! They're too fuckin fat and lazy and need to stop playing with them selfs and make some new movies if you want a new movie or tv show make one about my bus the girls have so many fights over guys and shit is funny!

Dawn remake was so vastly different that all it had in common with the original was zombies and a mall. and that's why it worked.

on the other hand I hate that people being tim burton fans excuses him from making shitty movies. planet of the apes sucked. it doesn't matter how good nightmare before xmas was.

    I agree..planet sucked.
im not a fan of all his shit and I think he plays the
"goth director" thing a bit much.
the peewee herman films were good though
(and check em if you dont believ it theyre both tim burton flicks. lol)

yeh. dawns remake was good. I also loved the cameo tom savinni made in it-that really sealed the deal for me cuz I grew up watching tom savinnis work. he's truelly the splatterking of the sfx world lol.

i carried my reservations about this one but wow, what a brilliant movie. willy wonka is such an oddball in this one. not a happy jolly sort of fruit cake but the kind that makes you feel sort of uncomfortable watching as he's very eerie

    definetly a must watch

i think that if they re-made some of the older movies like day of the dead 1-whatever it would be really cool because the living dead shit they have now a days is so much better because the make up has cahnged so much over the years its so sweet!

I might go see it.. dunno.. i know its supposed to stray away from the original a little bit and dwell depper into wonka's past. I think i'd spend my money on seeing Burtons next animated film The Corpse Bride instead

wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute......you mean to tell me someone managed to get bruce campbell's permission to us ehis character ash and sam raimi's permission to make a new version of the classic evil dead without bruce campbell as ash?

this cannot be so! noone can play ash better than campbell.
that's almost as bad as the time a few yers back they were gonna make a film about the end times of edgar allen poe and casted michael jackson (imohtep) to play poe! Im gonna cry now...feel a little light headed....ooooooooo (fainted.)

    Raimi's producing it.

    From Sci-Fi Wire:
Director Sam Raimi, who is producing a remake of his ghost movie Evil Dead, told SCI FI Wire that he wanted to use the original backwoods cabin from the 1981 film. "I was sad to find out that the house where we shot the original burned down, unfortunately," Raimi said.

    ...

Raimi said he won't direct the remake himself, but rather is seeking a new director, male or female, to develop the characters he created and retell his campfire story. He added that he won't be very hands-on when the film gets retold.

Raimi also said that the remake won't feature Campbell. The director said he'd rather put Campbell in a new
Evil Dead sequel, which would continue the story from the last movie, Army of Darkness.

Have you ever read the book? The 1971 film had the new name. The 2005 film is based on the book -- and it's much closer than the old film.

I have a feeling tim's gonna ruin it.the original atleast had roald dahl on the sidelines to keep it somewhat close to the book but he's dead now so it's open seaon.
Actually, the 1971 film got a MASSIVE re-write from David Seltzer -- it practically wasn't even the same script. Dahl hated the 1971 film.

Contrary as someone stated above, I kind of like the backgrounding on Willy Wonka. Granted, the little word stumble, if you will [I'm not going to make a spoil here] was a little off base right at the beginning, but eh, the whole thing was cooky. Anyway, I think the way the Oompa Loompas were filmed was cheap, and didn't like it at all, [the angles for perspective was a little off IMHO, and when Wonka looked at one, it looked like he was looking past him], though their performances were good. There was some other stuff, put I'll end here. Overall, I'd give it 7/10.
Well, Wonka seems to be looking past everybody at various points in the film. With the "Wonka's background" revision, this makes sense as his very disjointed from what most people consider "normal."

Personally, I liked the CGI-clone Oompa-Loompas -- it added a creepiness to them and made their perfectly cheoreographed "improv" song-and-dance numbers seem rather BORG-like.

Well, the book was really dark and creepy. Dahl regularly wrote about dark subjects and rarely sugar-coated them.

I agree but if they made some of the little kids books in to scary movies then maybe it would be different! i think........if they made some of the adult books into movies then we would have more movies insted of the re-makes! but what ever floats your boat then be my guest but i think they need to make more novies like corpse bride and The nightmare before christmas *cough*Bestmovie ever*cough*
