    Default 'Inked' on A&E

anyone been watching this show? It's entertaining... but I'd wish they spent more time on the art being created then the drama in the shop. It seems unusual that a place like a tattoo parlor has such strict personnel policies such as documenting verbal and written warnings, giving probation and suspension to employees, etc. I just dont understand why this show is about the clerks who work the register and the front desk instead of more about the artists and their work.

    discuss.

true, but there's much more to tattoo culture then pretty pictures.... eh, what can you expect...it's A&E.

Most jobs are supposed to give any documentation of verbal/written warnings, it's for covering the managament's ass. Though they might have a little bit different clientel than what McDonadl's is used to seeing, I see no reason why they wouldn't practice the same things.

That being said, there are more TV shows on today about drama than there is about any other subject.

i've been watchin that show.... and i like miami ink much better (tues. nights on TLC), because they focus a lot more on the stories behind why people get teir tattoos, and on the artists themselves and their work.... i think it may be more foused toward tattoo culture than the general public like i think inked is. that's my two cents anyway.... hehe

Yeah...Miami Ink is much better. You get the reasons for the art from the mouth of the people getting them not the artists themselves...adds a bit more life to it.

Inked feels too forced...plus the shop itself was a novelty for the Casino it's in anyhow...all fluff and scripted drama.

I remember going to a Dodger game a few years back and this young jewish woman (total hottie) had her back inked with assorted hebrew words a long with a huge holocaust themed image...very dramatic and cool. Even my dad dug it.

One of the coolest ink jobs I've ever seen done...also the highlight of that day cause the game sucked.

that sounds really cool actually, I always thought Hebrew looked cool, I feel the same about Arabic, ugly spoken language but looks really cool written.

I think I'll do my av as a souvenir for my exchange to France......... 3 and a half weeks left in the states

the shop i was in didn't have written warnings or probation thingys...
Everyone did their own thing, and if M had a problem with anyone, she'd talk to them privately in her office
I haven't seen the show, tho... heh

I've only seen previews for the show, and it doesn't look very good. I watch Miami Ink instead.

It kinda seems like that salon reality show on Sytle but with a tattoo parlor.
    Kinda lame.
Where is the reality in reality shows anyway when it's not really reality...and for the camera?
The shit is getting played (reality shows) and FINALLY they are deciding to add tattoos to the mix because it seems culturally correct. Whoo hoo. Leave it to the media to catch up a bit late....Next they will be following goths around in a 'goth' reality show...
Nothing beats that documentary that came out a few years ago..what was it...'Black lipstick and eyeliner' or something like that? I can't remember the full name right now..too early in the morning.

its kinda cool but sometimes i feel like hes riping off david blaine, and i hate david blaine. Ad far as the taoo shows go i actualy enjoy both of em. I Like Miami Ink because of how they show the artists working and the reasons people get their inkjections. I also dig Ink because of the relationships the people at the tattooo shop have with each other. i like poking my nose at other peoples buisness and this show alows me to do it in the comfort of my own home.
