    It's a smart idea on how to use something already well known and with more thought and polish could prove very useful in years to come as a tool for such disasters. Here's the Wired article on it.

    It's a really smart way to keep that kind of information easily accessible. Especially when you can get down to the very street a person lives on. The uses for something like this in the immediate and distant future are vast. Granted it depends heavily on the good will of people to work but it can at least be a great way to get needed info quickly and easily.

    It does underline the importance of restoring power and communication lines in hard hit areas though. I think disaster kits should include solar chargers for things like cell phones and laptop batteries. That would help a lot.
