    yep i hope this doesnt turn people off nuclear power its much more cleaner than coal

    its like blaming the gun for someone playing russian roulette

    every accident ever with the nuclear power had someone overriding a known safety procedure and basically screwing around for military or scientific experimentaion

    i'm not sure where a safe distance would be but i doubt i would ever go within 200 miles of chernobyl even with a gun to my head
    the core was exposed for a very long time

    the scary thing is the hanford fuel processing plant in washington may be nearly as bad unfortunatly many of the people living in the surrounding area do not survive long enough to have children

    When I visit my mom over in eastern WA I usually take the Vantage way, but on occassion I would drive through hanford. Hope I'm not contaminated!

    That's horseshit, Poor people. Some of those fucked up kids would have been better off born dead.

    Beyond the fact that it was the worst nuke tragedy ever, I find the idea of an huge city being uninhabitable for 600 years, and forests that glow at night due to radiation very interesting. The BBC on-line did a nice 20th Ann. photo series on it as well.
