Well, the back part at least. My mother did it suprisingly. and I'm quite proud of her cause she did a pretty good job.

When I was a nipper of age 17 or so i was predjudiced against metal. We used to time the guitar lead breaks and go "ooo that was over 10 seconds... it's metal not punk". At that time (1984) I met a few older folk who had 'crossed over' to metal and they advised me that when I snapped out of wearing hair like I was I'd experience less attempts of physical violence on my person. They were right.

There were other issues to work through though such as how to get your hair to not let you down when the pressure really came down at the punk/goth disco (Brisbane was a violently harsh but unfair mistress in those days). Advice:

1. Soap: gets in your eyes and stings at the first sign of rain not to mention the hair erectile dysfunction that ruins your chance of smoothing chicks by sign language during impossibly loud playings of "This Corrosion" at the afore-mentioned discos
2. Glue: is just too "of the moment" if you plan to live on beyond one day. Not that everyone did.
3. Sugar and water: Never tried it seeing as the toffee-head look is dangerous if you want to go on a picnic or camping where there may be hungry ants or bears or something.
4. Gel/wax: Too not tough to not die. (Thank you Johnny Ramone for the inspiration for this gag)
5. Mud/semen:
6. Hairspray: lives on like a mofo. Hairspray is definitely a very masculine thing. Ask me how. I'm off to the metrosexual thread now
