It makes me super uncomfortable. I never know what to say. Especially cause it's usually people who are normal sized humans, and by American standards pretty average. You can't say 'no you're not fat' cause they're already convinced they are and debating the matter would be horrible. So what do you say!?!?!?!?

Were I you? Have sex with em then ask them to repeat the question. Silence is probably my most tactically sound response.

I'd say "Yeah you're pretty fat"

Once you stop responding to their compliment fishing they usually stop

Been inside it a few times, back when there was a computer school in the immediate neighbourhood, and a friend of mine also used to live within its vicinity.

Not a bad place, really, though have never stayed there, so can't testify to the quality of the rooms there.

It, and the other members of the Station Casinos family, likes to bill itself as a locals' casino, because it's not located on either the Strip or in down-town Vegas, and many of its clientele are, well, locals.

Personally, am glad have neither the money nor skill levels for gambling, as casinos, and I worked as a change person in a couple up in Reno in the late '80's, really can be quite sad, boring places to be, I think.

BTW, I got completely off the topic of this thread, so, for better or worse, here's my input.

It all depends on how well you know the person complaining and how often you see them.

In the case of acquaintances whom one doesn't often see, a quick bit of reassurance and an even quicker change of topic might do the trick.

For family members and friends to whom one's close, a loving but, if need be, bluntly honest appraisal of their weight situation might do the trick, followed by asking them WHY they're so concerned about their weight. A bit of active listening, followed by whatever reasonably sound advice, commiseration, what have you, on top of that, might also help.

Finally, for those people who keep going on and on and on about it, no matter what, maybe, and I say maybe, saying something like , "For God's Sake, Please, please stop it. You're not as fat as you think you are, but you ARE driving yourself, me, and everyone else around us CRAZY by going on and on about this. If you're that concerned about this, please talk with your doctor about finding and starting a diet and exercice programme. But, please, just stop talking about your weight problem, thank you."

These are suggestions only, and may be altered or ignored completely if not practical to the situation and people at hand.

I've just learned to say nothing. Generally there is a well of low self-esteem there that I don't want any part of.

Honestly I don't think its a weight thing, I've seen women who would be considered over weight but are beautiful. Guys have it a little harder in that department actually.

hb shut the F*ck up, you probably have bigger problems than worrying about being fat?
    personally.
    or, just you arent fat!
    even if they are.
besides, who's to say whats fat and whats not fat?
    everyone has their own opinion.
just, some shouldnt express them if they are freakin losers.

It's even better if they're eating chips when they say it.

I refuse to take them seriously at all. If you compliment them like they want, you're just supporting the cycle in their head of low self-esteem > bolstered by attention of others.

Ugh! That's me! I'm always complaining that I'm fat because of my gut...yet i'm so totally SUPER DUPER skinny

    I'm like 6'0 and 118lbs

My friends are kinda used to it so they don't say anything but what you should say to someone like me is NOT : "omg you need to gain some weight"

Tell me to shut the fuck up and gain some muscle.

    Depends on the person...

I only say "I'm fat" or "that's fattening" when I'm offered food to offered to go eat out with friends....I'm not fishing for compliments, maybe others are ::shrugs::

ive found the easiest thing to do for omeone who constantly is complaining about being fat is to say nothign at all. if its a constantcomplaint, theres probably mre to it than their weight and theyre looking more for a quick ego boost through an of the side compliment...ofcourse i'm quite abit of an asshole o usualy say "youre fucing right your fat" or "dont makeme smack you"

If they complain they are too fat when they aren't, tell them the look great and don't need to loose anymore weight.

If they are complaining about being too thin, then the same (unless they're so thin they are risking their health, in which case tell them to eat some bloody pies!)
