Aw, she's adorable. I know she's not a sphynx, since it appears you've shaved her, but may I ask what breed she is?

based on the tail she's either a classic or mackrel tabby.

    why did you shave her?

I wonder if without hair if I would still be allergic to her. Cool looking cat.

    Ironic you posted this!

I have a deposit placed on one that's either (was born last week) or the next litter due on Wed. .... .I want a male black one...but when the litter is born i'll make my decision including if I want it show quality etc.

Your kitty is soooo cute! I'm looking forward to being a breeder in the near future

She's a sphinx/elf out cross, no shaving, they're never completely hairless, there's always bits of peach fuzz. She's 11 weeks, we just picked her up from a champion breeder. The Elf is a new breed similar to sphinx in that they are hairless, but with curled ears. She is officially a pure breed pet quality sphinx.

    See her brother here.. http://www.elfcats.com/

actually both Deviant Designs and i allergic to cats. Sphynx aren't totally hypoallergenic, but the lack of hair helps keep down the allergins as well as the fact that you have to bathe them fairly regularly.

we'd like to eventually start breeding as well but we don't really have the space quite yet, we're waiting until we have a house instead of a tiny apartment.

its cute because of the big eye fact... I like Cats, but i can be in the same house with one or its a bad sceen. It would be like this If you want to torture me, forget the water board.. Grab a long hair cat, in few hours ill tell where my grandmother hide her money... So this might be answer to ever having a cat

I read about some company that will remove the gene that causes people to be allergic to cats but it costs something like $1800 or so to order a cat from them.
My friend's Labrador puppy was that much. Pets are super expensive here.
My wife and I would get a mini-pig if we had our own place.

Ya guys should hit up a local shelter. Can get new pet for 30 dollars already neutered and with his/her shots. Even if you really, really want a purebred you can find one in most shelters. Plus if you do get a non-purebred it'll be healthier and have stronger genetics.

Awww... I've wanted a Sphyx for a while, but my wife doesn't want a hairless cat. But I've got her interested in getting a Cornish or Devon Rex.

    Katinka is a cutie!

She is? I knew they had a peach fuzz-like fur on them, but it just looked like she had a lot of fur to begin with. I thought she kind of looked like a sphynx the way her head was shaped (eyes, ears, etc.).

Anyway, that's cool. I've always wanted one, but I'm only just now reading up on them and what they're like. They seem like pretty cool cats.

GAH i want a peterbald soooo bad! but i there's only a couple breeders in the states mostly on the east coast. we'd probably have to import one. she's named after the character from Zoolander (yes we are that dorky )

Peterbalds are great cats. If you do ever need to transport a cat, let me know. I know a really good transport company. Both of my cats arrived on the pet van. The name is cool regardless of the origin.

I was gonna say.... I bet ya you paid a pretty penny for the cat.

My brother in law had one and they named it Picasso, but I like your name better.

Does that cat have a hairy tail or is that just a color pattern of the skin?

And the name of that company is?

I'm moving to Southern California and I have to figure out how I'm getting both of my house demons to our new house.

Do they transport other critters? I have rats and geckos.

    thanks

sorry, but I think genetic manipulation is fucked up.

I don't see how any real animal lover can support breeding to bring out recessive genes that don't serve an animal well for any adaptable purpose other than for human amusement.

why don't you save one of the hundreds or thousands of abandoned cats in your city that are going to be put to death instead?

Hairlessness is a natural genetic mutation that pops up about every 15 years purely on it's own, maybe you should research these sorts of things before posting on a public forum. we are actually both deathly allergic to cats but love them none the less. this was our solution to that. but you know, thanks for being so judgemental
